When playing as a custom faction, I can often train units from a previous custom faction I created and played. For example I am currently playing an Altarian faction, but can train a unit from a previous faction that was Mancer.
Are you custom faction names the same?
Faction names different, but sovereign name is the same.
If you name the units the same as another previously created race's units, they will have that race's traits. You can actually create a custom faction with units from each race by abusing this.
To fix the problem go in the xml files in your documents folder and change the internal name so they are distinct from each other. Add a 1 or something. This is not one of the bugs they are going ot fix anytime soon (if at all).
