A note on the Death Worship trait. Though it appears to do nothing for a custom race, the Resoln (the empire guys that get it by default) do get some effect from it. In the empire/kingdom selection page it states that they get a +10 bonus to hit points. When designing Resoln units, new designs (ie, hitting the "new" button) will start with 5 hp like everyone else but their default peasants begin with 13 hp (which is +8 above the norm, not +10, unless i'm missing something in the way elemental does the math here). If you upgrade the peasant unit then you can create 13 hp warrior units, with some restrictions.
Weapons appear unrestricted but the 13 hp troops cannot use the standard armour, they get a few options that dont appear to be available to anyone else, but are pretty much comparable. Some defense 2 or 3 chest armour and the 10 material cost stuff that everyone can get. They also get access to a "legendary helm" which appears to do nothing, cost nothing, but look cool, and the "Legendary armlets" which also do nothing but cost 2 gold + 1 material (oh and they look cool too
.
While this confuses me, it seems fitting that the high hp units should have less armour options given that they already have a large, free, defensive bonus, which btw seems to multiply correctly when trained in squads etc. Even without experience training (or whatever you call training a unit of higher level) a basic squad for me is 39 hp 45 att 9 def (equipped with reaper+basic chest armour) which is pretty sweet.
As a sidenote it seems upgrading from a peasant still gives an extra +1 att for Resoln (other races also get the +1 att but it disappeares if you equip a decent chest armour, which resoln peasants cant lol).
Not sure what stardock plan to do about Death Worship but it does seem very powerful to me. Too powerful for its modest point cost in the race creator, heh, or it would be if it worked
Edit: looks like everything i explained above applies to all empire factions, so i guess the Death Worship trait really does nothing atm
