I posted earlier today about my 'dynasty looking like a telephone pole'. In my current game, ive been abusing the heck out of the dynasty system, marrying aunts to nephews, brothers to sisters, etc.
Now, this isnt a problem in itself....im getting quite a chuckle out of it. BUT this does limit marriage options if one doesnt want to marry his or her first cousin. This leads to a few suggestions...
1) Penalty for Inbreeding: Ok, fact, it happened in noble lines (and still does). Also fact- inbreeding is not good for the offspring. Maybe inbreeding can have he effect of enhancing disadvantages and advantages? For example, your two ugly intimidating warlords marry, making them REALLY ugly but also really good at being intimidating warlords?
2) Other marriageable candidates: As the marriage options are limited to sovereign offspring, how about other candidates? Ie you can marry other champions (youre main hero/adventurer champion kills a dragon and marries the princess') or marries a lord of a neutral city ( i heard there may be some of those)? This would bring up interesting diplomatic options, add more 'breeding traits' into your dynasty line, and keep those female heirs under your direct control (as their children) if you marry a commoner.
3) Falling in love: right now we get to determine who are little boys and girls marry. This doesnt always happen, and could throw a nice twist if you arranged that marriage between Pariden and Altar, but your little daughter runs off with Paris to Troy sparking a war...
