So what's everyone going to play? With the character creator out (even with the bugs) and the game about two weeks away it's time to start getting a bit hyped up and consider what you're going to play.

First I was thinking a etnocentric Dalish Elf, Rogue->Ranger, but there doesn't seem to be that many elven followers and I have no idea if the ones that are are Dalish or Alienage elves. I'm thinking "the elf that is still elf" and want to rise up against the humans, etc. Elves are, after all, clearly superior. But I'm having second doubts. I also have no idea what to pair a Rogue-Ranger with. Assassin? Too stabby and too civilized - I'm going to use bows. Bard? Too foppish for the character I want. Duelist? Again, I'm ranged. Doesn't sound like a clear combo.

Now I'm starting to think about a Human Noble Warrior->Templar/Champion.

I don't know why I'm turned off by the mage origin. Maybe because it feels like it sets your character too much.

I'm torn between Dwarven Noble and Mage.

My dwarven noble would be kind, honor-bound and chivalrous.  My mage would be evil, spiteful, power-hungry.

If I made an elf, It'd be simpering, cowardly, weak.

I don't get why anyone would choose an elf over a dwarf.  If you do, can you still call yourself a man?

Also why choose a dwarven mage?  Tough it out!

This pretty much sums up how I feel but a lot more eloquantly than I could have said it.  Basically the most excited I've been for a game in a long, long time.  Just hope it lives up to my expectations.  Have a feeling it will at least come pretty close from what I've read about it.

Aestetics of the male elven mage were definititily the best for me. Did anyone else find the # of background stories to be lacking? Or was that just a limitation of the stand-alone char creator?

Tried often before, so very rarely well thought out.

It would have been nice to have more but if each origin has it's own beginning and the npcs reactions change throughout the game based on it I can understand there only being 6 of them.  I am guessing it is a huge amount of work to add this content in and I'm grateful they attempted to do something new instead of the same old "guy with no memory" routine.  I think I will happy with what we've got.  Good chance they will add some as DLC anyway at a later date anyway.

The main issue as I see it is that when I've played a human, I've played "all" humans, since they only have the Nobleman origin. Likewise, when I've played the Mage origin once, I've played "all" mage origins.

I am laidback here and will await initial reviews (that will be very favourable cause this is a high impact game-its all corrupt) and more importantly I will look for player feedback.

Professional game reviews are a joke. You said it, the more hype the more corruption.
