Another problem that I encountered during my game with 2 opponents: The diplomacy dialog doesn't report the current bounty correctly. I put a bounty on the non-allied opponent. After a time I got a message that I had payed out all of the bounty that I had placed on the player. When I looked back at the diplomacy dialog the bounty was still there. I had assumed that it would decrease to 0 as that player's ships were killed. I think that the bounty system needs to be explained a bit more. Does

I have just started a new game: custom map (nothing too big, 30 planets with 2 stars), 2 opponents, no marauders. One of the opponents almost immediately after meeting me suggested an alliance which I accepted. A problem that I encountered: Sometimes, when both of our ships were at a planet together and I was zoomed out from that planet, his color would show up in the "tick mark" graphic that shows ships at a planet but mine wouldn't be displayed. If I zoomed to the planet then my ship w
For me, it is all of the little details that make the game fantastically immersive and fun. The coms from the ship captains when they prepare for jump and when a ship is built are excellent. The pirates comments are fun and they make you want to go after them. The graphics all have little tweaks that make them more interesting. The waves of missiles heading from a battle group to a target, the engine trails, how the bombers and fighters attack then veer off to line up another attack run
Another gameplay observation: I sent a move command to a fleet to move to a lane that was on the other side of a planet from their current position. Most of the ships traveled to the location with no problem but the capital ship that was in the group appeared to try to go through the planet before attempting to turn to go around it. Since cap ships already move relatively slowly this caused me to have to wait until I gave the order to make the jump down the lane. I know that fleets can be groupd
At least the icons for the different techs are somewhat representative of their respective techs. The techs for new ship prototypes actually show ships, laser upgrades are laser "blasts", etc. I have played some games where you couldn't even get a rough idea of what a tech was by looking at the icons. Devs did a good job with this aspect.
I thought that the bombers and fighters were supposed to do all of the moving and strafing. Being an ex-Navy man, the ships work pretty much exactly as I would have thought that they would. Smaller ships move around and avoid shots but the larger ships usually can't do this. Especially if missiles and lasers are figured into the mix. They are too fast to avoid at any rate unless you are one of the fighters or bombers. I don't like how the support ships go in to battle like the other ship
I just pre-purchased and played my first game. Well, I haven't finished yet but it's all but over. I set up the first game to be more of a play and learn game than a challenge of any sort. One computer player set to easy on a small map. First, let me say...WOW! This game blew me away. I could definitely see some of the other game influences in the graphics. I was reminded heavily of Homeworld. I loved it. It took me more than a few turns to figure out the research. I didn't read the
According to the devs, you can email [email protected] from the email account that you originally registered with and ask them to copy and paste your serial numbers from your stardock account. If you have the registration email that Stardock sent when you first registered then do not use the registration number to re-register. It seems to mess up your Metaverse account.
I have followed Highlander's instructions and I, too, cannot create a character for Metaverse. It keeps telling me that my serial number is invalid or not registered. I would really like to start submitting scores, join an empire, and interact through Metaverse.
I was having the same problem and one of the Stardock guys told me to try same thing that CodeCritter suggested. It worked great for me and I can't tell any difference in rendering quality. Turning off the "Use Enhanced Ship Rendering" option doesn't seem to affect the game quality but it sure does keep the rendered graphics from turning white on you! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/sd/SDC24.
Thank you so much for the "Use Enhanced Ship Rendering" tip. I turned it off and now everything is back to normal graphically. I just wish I knew why it all went white in the middle of a game. I didn't change any settings or update during this game.
That didn't work. I also tried turning the resolution down to 1280x1024. Everything except for planets and asteroids are still white.
I started up a new game playing as the Krynn. The first several turns everything was great. After I played a while now when I start up the game and load my saved game the mining bases, starbases, and ships are all white. If I go to the shipyard screen and try to create a ship it is also completely white and I can't tell what anything is. There are no details, just a blank white in the shape of the ship. I updated my video drivers just in case that was the problem (although it worked for the firs
I had started a new game and I was exploring/collecting all of the anomolies with my flagship. There were several that I could see on the map but I hadn't gotten to yet. I saved my game and quit. Later, I loaded my saved game and looked to see which anomolie I wanted to go to next but there weren't any on the map. I tried zooming the display in and out, enabling the anomolies on the mini map, and loading the game again but it was no use. All of the anomolies were simply gone. The resourc
Maybe I am playing the tech research angle all wrong but I do like the thought of being able to queue up research. I don't trade techs a lot and I have my favorite path of techs to research. I do change them up between games to make things more interesting. Maybe I should start trading techs. Add a different subtlety to the game play. Thanks for the information... and the ideas.
This is a newbie question. Can you queue up several research projects so that the next in line starts immediately after the previous one is "discovered"? If this is possible then I can't figure out how to do it. I think that it is annoying to have to choose what to research next every time a project finishes. I usually have an idea of the first 6 or 7 things that I want to research at the beginning of a game.
