I'm no computer programmer (though I envy those who are) but I can relate to Brad in a way. I do ad design and page layout at a local newspaper and I can totally sympathize. As an ad designer, you hear more about what a client doesn't like than if they do like something. Over the past six years, I can count on one hand how many people have bothered to contact me personally and thank me for a job well done. Fortunately, I have a pretty thick skin thanks to working retail for fifteen y

Another fan! Thanks SanChonino. Rhona nodded. “It appears so, sir. (Opinion begins here) SEV is great if you like playing with a spreadsheets. But, hey, there are some guys out there who like that. I think they are a bit of a niche, though. So GalCiv simply may not be their cup of tea. No game will ever be all things to all people. I find GalCiv2 to be a perfect balance...not too complex but never a cakewalk either. It oozes with that "just one more turn" factor...the mark of the best 4X games.

I plan for this to be an AAR narrative utilizing the seven factions of the great strategy game Alpha Centauri by Sid Meiers. I have begun writing a back story because Twilight is still in beta. I will either use the planned Alpha Centauri mod for Twilight or my own custom races to (hopefully) continue the story. Hope you all enjoy it. The story: <span style="font-f

Downloaded the beta 5 update with no problems, navigated to the race selection screen to create some custom races but my "custom opponents" button is greyed out and unselectable. Release info says ability to create custom races is in. Any ideas?

Well, it's not that big a deal. There are always way around it until (if) it gets fixed. I did decide to delete GC2 and all the add-ons and re-download them but the issue is still there so its something beyond my control.

I haven't bothered to post this because I felt it so trivial, but I recently decided "what the heck" :) I have all custom music...game, events...everything. Recently, I've noticed my music not "switching back". For example, say I'm talking to the Torians. My Torian theme music kicks in and plays. But when I click 'done' and the trade screen goes away, the Torian music continues playing instead of kicking over to the "game" music. Then the only time it changes is when I talk to anot

Oh, I'm here...watching the progression with great enthusiasm. :D I must admit, I was also beginning to prepare my own SMAC races update (the original seven) when TA officially gets released, but after browsing the thread and seeing how much more depth this mod could offer, I've put it on hold. Like SteelMeister, my abilities are limited to graphics and XML editing. This mod could be something really cool...with TA's upcoming editors...man, this could really be sweet. I'd l

I'd like to jump in and add to Orca777's list of wishes for custom races of the future by adding the following: *) The ability for your custom race(s) to select 'natural dislike' for some other race, whether custom or non-custom...like the Torians & Drengins claim to have. I know you can kinda manipulate that with "Pacifist...Aggressive" settings but I'd like to be able to make, say, two neutrals have a deep-seated mistrust of one another - so deep they would never in a million years f

Sean Conney as Malone in The Untouchables had some great lines. (Malone to Elliot Ness in the church): "You wanna know how to get Capone? He pulls out a knife, you pull out a gun.
