That can happen if the pirates cannot get to their target when the raid is launched, or if they destroy everything on the planet they raid, they'll head back to base. None of those ships are ever going to attack you though.
Ya, I figured that. The base was still launching raids at me but it was always a new batch of ships...the 2000 or so there never left. I tried several diffe
Sareth, The idea is to be able to reposition the SB for defensive purposes (even in your own grav well...it is not "defensive" to order your SB to attack a force and it move to do so even in your own grav well), not so you can directly engage hostiles. With the towing feature, you would be able to reposition your SB to the "north" phase lane that you expect an attack on instead of your SB being useless on say the "southwest" phase lane you originally placed it. The ability
Heh, this reminds me of a game I played where a pirate based amassed something like 2000 ships (screenshots below). I dunno how it happened and unfortunately I was testing out the "small fleet" setting so I could not mass enough frigates/cruisers to stand a prayer against that many pirate ships. Luckily I was playing as the Advent Loyalist and had a level 9 or 10 titan. I attacked the pirate base from one direction with the largest fleet of frigates/cruisers I could mus

Station remains immobile by itself but can be "towed" to a new location...fucking brilliant. On the same line of thinking, I think the TEC construction frigate should be able to phase jump as well (or at least be given a research option in the defense tree to do so). why? Beca
Quoting AceXMachine, reply 25 The main reason for this is starbases are designed to be mostly self sufficient. This does not change simply because you slap a phase drive on her. But yes it does. Starbase that is always in the same location uses dedicated supply line not included in your fleet supply, which lists capacity to supply mobile FTL capable forces. But starbase that can move is basically t
Another idea would be to make the movement for the advent/tec starbase an ability with a cooldown limit. You can give it a single move order then must wait X seconds before you can move it again. This keeps the vasari advantage while not leaving the advent/tec at such a disadvantage
Mobile Orky should not use fleet supply or cap slots, and most definately not the same as a Titan, thats just damn near idiotic. The main reason for this is starbases are designed to be mostly self sufficient. This does not change simply because you slap a phase drive on her. Perfect solution already mentioned is to add second upgrade option to phase stabilizer and/or requiring an actual phase stabilizer in the well your jumping from. Dunno if this would include the "s

I have only had this happen once so it may be a fluke but I was playing as TEC Loyalist when a Ragnarok and small attendant fleet attacked two of my starbases in the grav well of a Gas giant (had twin fortress research). I had the the starbases close enough to where people could jump from one to the other if needed so they were both tearing the Ragnarok a new one with the Rag (heh) focusing on one starbase. The Ragnarok was using the special weapon whose blast repulses nearb
EDIT: Do I need to resize this? Looks weird to me on this forum....
I agree with sareth that mobile starbases should be available for the TEC and Advent, if nothing else, just so they can be repositioned. The argument about the "mobile red button" is moot if the station is moving as slow as is being suggested (OP said 25%, but I would be happy with %15). If you are REALLY gonna let a starbase lumber up to you and go boom, well then...you deserve it. I rarely use that upgrade unless there is a GREAT strategic advantage to it (choke point, nea
