Hooray for AI!
if I have to pick just one, I'd say Pariden. Arcane monoliths and extra essence make for a cool magic oriented game.
Poor Magnar. Getting stomped like that just because some upstart channeler got confused by similar names ;)
I would think the pathfinding overlay appears as soon as the path calculation is complete. If there truly is an additional delay, I'd really like it being removed altogether. I usually play with a small tooltip delay, but would prefer no delay with the path indicator. I could live with a single slider that affects both, though.
Unrest gives a flat reduction to production and research. A city with 20% unrest provides 20% less production and research. I think the -1 growth refers to the level 4 fortress upgrade.
I don't think it's just an exploit to increase growth. There's also the odd phenomenon that it makes more sense to pump out a constant stream of pioneers from a level 2 fortress with a very small food supply than from a large, overgrown city. The city has stuff it gains from pop increase until level 5, but the fort couldn't care less. Every time pop hits 30, it should build a pioneer. That will keep it in constant +3 growth with no harm done, since it will never reach level 3
Panzer Leader by Guderian. A amazing read. At least for me, not so much for my friends.
I ran into this bug constantly in a game around version .90. I wonder if it was somehow caused by the game having an updated version and me playing an old save. Unfortunately, I don't have a savegame handy.
The night has fallen and the foul are abroad! Thanks for the tip regarding LoM. I remember the days spent recruiting various lords in my childhood very fondly :)
I've been seeing similar behavior too. AI had unpicked goodies inside the territory of it's single city and sovereign was just standing still with an army. I bypassed them and picked up some of the goodies, but then the sov appeared. The army was gone, maybe died fighting monsters, I thought. He did pick up the remaining goodie.
Yeah, dodge penalty sounds good.
The Glass Bead Game.
Wow. I had no idea the exp curves for levels were so steep. Thanks for pointing it out so clearly, joeball. It's not very intuitive that +25% xp actually means something like +5% in terms of levels.
The water demons reflect back the damage done to them. It's been a while since I played Resoln last, but they reflected full damage back then. A water demon with say 15 hit points meant 15 points of sure damage on the enemy. Sure, the demon dies, but you get it back free of charge.
Convert any non water shard to a death one.
I believe there's a limit to how many demons of each type you can get from the shards. You'll have far more troops if you stick to several different types of shards. That said, it's nice to get the power of Wither up.
Have you noticed that the main source of troops for Resoln are generated from their shard shrines and altars? The shard units are free from upkeep and if they die, you generate new ones automatically.
Init penalty directly in the trait sounds a bit problematic. For instance, would it behave differently for champions? Or does a champion instantly get -4 initiative if he gets the plate trait, even if he's wearing only leather? I do agree that plate proficiency should contain chain proficiency as well.
Now make Potential 1 = 25% exp bonus.
That would make it a no-brainer. You'd have to pick it always. Throw it away or keep it useful for main heroes only.
Yeah, spell schools aren't worth the upgrades right now. Even for mage characters, I stick to the first level spells and pick skills from the mage tree instead.
To top it all off, the AI often uses clubs/mauls which give a init penalty as well, making their units even slower. I've faced enemies whose "best" units were equipped with best techs available. Their init was an abysmal 8. They never even had a chance to hit me since I always backed away before their turn. I agree the init penalties are too high. Both for plate armor for clubs.
I've seen this in a non-road situation also. It occured with a unit I had split a from a stack with Tireless march. When this happens on the road situation, if you move your cursor around, it will recalculate and give you the correct distance. Very difficult to reproduce. I've been trying to get a good screenshot for a while now.
What about the regular units with the heroes? If you have one hero, don't they get twice the exp than they would if stacked with two?
I too use low level spells mostly. Upper tiers are not worth the level upgrades. Fireball might make level 3 fire useful, but it costs less to take it from the mage tree or "anointed by fire" instead. Disagree about wither. It kicks serious ass in strategic. One specific spell I don't care about is Guardin Wind. You'd have to spend a ton in upkeep to cover entire army and it's very situational. I would prefer either an effect on the whole army of a champion or a ta
Just saw it as well. Playing with the newest version. Wasn't Magnar, though.
