Register the game like kryo said, then you should be able to install. I personally found Stardock pretty convenient and quite unlike odiferous bovine excrement.

Hey, galenbd! I didn't say anything about Laser 1. My comment was infinitely more insightful.
Not only does the colony manager screen need a minimap, but so do the planetary production screen and the ship production screen. Otherwise, on larger maps, players are reduced to gimmicky planet naming, and/or extra mouse clicking to get optimal production. It would also be nice if the planet list and the colony management screen were linked so they were automatically sorted the same way.
Nice concept, but I'm not sure how it would work in practice. Unless (see exception below) the the research costs were perfectly balanced most players would figure out the best new weapons vs. enhancements tech path and follow it every time. Then it wouldn't be a real choice. Because of the way the AI chooses new tech paths this would end up working to the player's advantage and the AI's detrement. The other effect it would have is to let players catch up really quickly in weapons areas
Is there an easy way to see where a planet is on the galaxy map (like the mini-map) when setting a production order for a ship or a social project?
Ahh ok.And I would agree. Moo3 isn't all that bad patched
@Pontius FYI. To use the quote (I think, let's see if this works) I highlighted the text I wanted to quote, then pressed the 'Q' icon in the lower left hand part of your post
@jus4golf Since you have MOO3 you might as well try the patch. IMO it makes a huge difference. You should be able to tell within a short period of time whether or not it works for you. If you just don't like the game concept it won't help, but if you were underwhelmed by the poor AI and UI, the patch truly does make a difference. I'm not sure what you meant by the hobo patch reference. The only patch released was the stop gap data patch. GalCiv has tons of patches, and I think tha
@PontiusBriunPilot I meant to use "who cares" for slang meaning "I don't care". On review I think my wording was poorly chosen. I apologize. As far as the "beta" patch, what I meant was that it was a stop gap patch only intended for temporary use until the code patch came out (that's why a put the beta in quotes), and I truly don't care about compatibility. I can see that you do so let's agree to disagree. As far as your humorous irony, I respectfully find it neither h
I just wanted to offer a different point a view. I own both GalCiv and MOO3 and like both. Besides both being turn based strategy games, they are completely different. Not everyone will like both. However, I think that the post-patch MOO3 is a very good game. Who cares if the MOO3 patch is not compatable with a previous "beta" patch (although it worked just fine for me)or if one of the dev's is teaching a class he may not be qualified to teach. The important thing for users is a good end product
Could you post the class bonus morale for class 13 and 14 planets? Sometimes these have to be colonized for strategic reasons, even when you can't afford to rush build a class improvement.
Nope. I'll see what it does. Thanks.
A more heirachical structure and many more discussion folders. This is a pretty clean board, but a few more rules and/or eforcement regarding insensitive personal comments, obscene user names, etc.,would be nice, with the goal of limiting forum comments to a 'PG' rating. My 13 year old likes this game and also likes to check out this forum.
Another good trading UI feature would be when a trading offer (or any diplomacy offer for that matter) is refused, you get kicked back to a screen with the original trading offer and have an opportunity to up the offer without having to start over from scratch. It would also be nice to be able to toggle to the minimap from the diplomacy screen and see where ships and planets are located
There are two places where info for things that are built show up. I prefer the info only showing up in one screen. If it's something that I need to make a build decision on, I think it should show up in the planet production screen. Nonproduction items should show up just in the section at the bottom right part of the screen (production items where the governor knows what to build next already do this). It would also be nice to have a build cue for ships. It would be nice to b
55% is pretty good. From what I understand, you want to keep morale above 40% to avoid revolts. Having morale well above that level gives you a cushion. Also higher morale gives you a more rapid population growth (I think that you get a big bonus at 100% and growth slows down dramatically at 54% - someone please correct me if I'm wrong), and income is based partially on population. I think 50% is a pretty good tax level since the morale drop caused by tax is the tax level squared (e.g; 40% tax m
I guess my original question was from a more general standpoint. Maybe it's just that I'm age challenged (i.e.; old), but although I really enjoy the game, the sheer volume of searching, dragging and clicking that I have to do gives me a sore wrist and detracts somewhat from my gaming experience. Anything that you could do in this area would be greatly appreciated. Again, my biggest beef is that the radar range goes right to the edge of the main map, and this makes it hard explore witho
As a matter of fact, I do have some specific suggestions with regard to UI enhancements. Most of these things are already in the general suggestion thread, but these are some of the things I would like to see. A scalable main map. This is the most important for me. Anomolies shown on minimap More detail in minimap with regard to undiscovered areas More easily discernable icons for minimap ships Box in minimap sometimes obscures other icons If
Boy, on the MOO3 forum, I would have been flamed, deified and/or villified, in no particular order. Or I might have been sent to a thread where this is being or has been discussed. Maybe it's the layout of the Galciv forum, but most threads here seem to get few or no responses and are buried quickly. Does anyone out there besides me think that the UI could use some enhancements, or do people think it's perfect the way it is? Has anyone heard anything on this topic previously?
There have been numerous display and UI oriented requests with regard to future Stardock games updates, but only a few minor UI/display items have been changed so far. I think that changes in these areas would greatly improve the gaming experience, especially on larger maps. My questions to Stardock are these two. In general, what, if any, are the types of UI changes you are planning or considering? What is the general time frame for the implementation of these changes? Thank y
Look at the current poll. Apparently the 1.02 backers are a very vocal minority.
minor typo in online encyclopedia - In the "How Influence Works", the example has a multiply by "50" instead of "5"
