Ello jordo, I just grabbed the mod to check out and it's really fun. I never checked out any of the others so it was all new to me.
Mr Nice Guy
After a couple pointers from Zakrul, I'm handling the pirate invasion much better. Also, I went for starbases very early this time and even that was nearly destroyed. Now that it's upgraded a bit, then next wave was much easier to deal with but still took out a nearby hangar bay and repair module. It's still pretty early in the game so I'll see what they have in store for later. Edit: I changed my nick for demigod but looks like it shows for everything so...Dzhel is
First game with the new pirates and man are they hardcore early on. I believe it was the 3rd pirate wave and they crushed me as Advent. I had 2 cap ships, 2 cruisers, and 10 frigates backed up with 2 hanger bays and they just stormed over that system and broke me lol. I'm going back to the drawing board to see if I can find a way to change up my strategy to deal with these beasts. Cheers.
Ok, got the hang of small maps and managed a win after a couple tries. It was back and forth (as it should be) until I finally managed to lock down a key planet which really helped me focus my defenses in a few places rather than chasing fleets all over the place. Early-mid game seems on target to me now but I'm curious what y'all envision for late game. Once I got starbases in the mix, I was really able to lock down the pirate threat which freed me up to mop up the
Updated Beta first impressions. I wanted to give the small map a try as requested and there is definitely much less room for error compared to large maps. All normal settings and difficulty. Vasari (me) vs. TEC. I really have to weigh my options when I choose what to buy. I don't know if my strategy is flawed (quite possible) but I'm having a somewhat difficult time keeping up with my enemies. I tried to expand quickly but now I'm stalled
Pick me! I always wanted to be hideously experimented upon!
lol Anyways, just dropping in for a run down on beta early game. Large, 3 system random galaxy, normal options, free-for-all, me and 2 normal AI, one of each race, me as the Advent. As far as performance and crashing, it's smooth and non-existant. If anyone is having performance drops due to the enhanced explosions, disabling bloom in video optio
This is probably coincidence but I upgraded to the 185.20 beta nvidia drivers (didn't see them on the official site) and started a new game. Has run perfectly for several hours. I did see a performance increase with this beta as well. Link to 185.20 beta http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=743024
Hello again, With the 2.2d version, I'm running into a repeatable CTD when my fleet arrives at a particular enemy planet. If you like I can send the save file along with instructions on how to repeat the CTD if that would be helpful. Otherwise everything has been working very well so far. Thanks again for any assistance.
Ah I see, I didn't really stop to look if the game was actually paused, just assumed it hadn't. Thanks for the quick reply.
First off, really enjoy the mod and greatly appreciate all the effort that has gone into this. With the 2.2c version for Entrenchment, I'm having a strange string issue. After installing the new mod version, it seemed my custom keybindings were back to default. No biggie, I just remapped them. Now, whenever I try to use the pause button, it says "string not found". I tried restarting Sins, uninstalling and re-installing the mod, tried with and without the beta fighte
Definitely. In fact, they should make a Gorgon boss in your honor.
I've also seen this bug around for a long time but it really seems to only happen for me if I've alt-tabbed out of the game at some point. If I don't, I never seem to get that CTD. I could be imagining things but thought I'd put it out there.
Add news icons (you know, the ones that show up on the right side of the screen) for battles and surrendered/otherwise gained planets. This would be great. You see, this way I can quickly zoom to these places without taking notes or trying (and failing) to remember them. That way I can build replacement ships or move reinforcements around easier. Also, it would make it easier to find those planets that suddenly find themselves in your empire like when someone surrenders to you so tha
My previous post about colony ship bugs errored out, but seems to be posted but is blank and won't let me edit it. This is a test post.
Hello, just wanted to drop a line with the bugs I'm finding when upgrading the original colony ship as Terrans. I just sent off a zip of my save game to but thought I'd post here also. When I upgrade the original colony ship (I'm playing as Terran), there's a glitch with the components. First, when you open the upgrade screen, there's an empty black box listed in the functional components. Removing it s
Still no news? I'm starting to feel forgotten about. I need a hug. :SNIFF!:
Really enjoying the mod so far. Thanks for the work going into this. Also, I'm trying to combine this with the planetary bonus mod as that one looks really good too. Trouble is, I followed the directions above from Simsum and the planets are showing up but whenever I mouse-over them, it says the string is not found. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong is much appreciated.
I'm having odd fps drops too. The game really starts to chug during large engagements and I even dropped the settings to rock bottom. A couple wierd things is that during the big battles, the game will slow down badly then speed back up after about 20 seconds from the start even at max settings. Also, my framerate just dropped badly during a somewhat small battle, 4 cap ships total & about 30 frigates. My AA & v-sync are also turned off. It seems that when multiple special a
I would really love this too.
I got my reasons for the minimizeable end of turn report mixed up. I'd still like that feature but the example I gave was whacked heh. It's more for events not centered around planets since you can zoom to a planet, make changes, and go back to the report.
Sorry if any of this has been mentioned before but I'm too lazy to look at the moment - Make the planet list show the planet type icon so we can see if they're colonizable or not. - Make the end of turn report window minimizeable. Example why this would be helpful: I lose several defender ships in one turn. This way, I can zoom to the planet that lost defenders, minimize the report, change production or buy a replaceme
Not sure if it's been mentioned but small addition I'd like to see... Make the foreign planet list show an icon of who owns the planet as well as being able to sort it by owner.
The rally point manager lock-up is fixed with beta5-test 2 for me. FPS and everything else I've tested doing great. I'm now getting invisible ships attacking me sometimes. I didn't start a new game when updating from beta4 to beta5-2. Should I start a new one with each release? I'll send in the save & debug.
I'm having the same problem as Squash713. I'll send in an email along with my saved game & debug.err. Other than that, everything's looking & running great so far for me. Windows XP Pentium D 3ghz 2 GB RAM Soundblaster X-Fi Gamer Nvidia 7950 GT
Tried the new beta 2 and did see about 4 fps increase. But like Cari said, it's really isn't bad at all below 30 fps. Also, those weird minimap lines at 300 zoom are gone. Thanks for the continued support and feedback.
