This sounds really interesting!
I think it is based on AI Value specified in the text file and something else, but what is that something else and what weight does it have? Do the Drengins prefer military techs? Why so they seem to like sensors more than others? Can I mod the techs so that I can prompt ai's to follow different tech paths?
Yah, I think it's a mix of the AI value and what internal strategy the AI is using. If the AI is following a 'War' strategy,
Do you know what that 'text' is?
All the remaining hard-coded text. Stuff like 'Sol', 'Earth', 'Mars', 'USS Hero', the names of the minor races, stuff like that. Aah yes, I like that one too. I'll catch you one of these days, vincible. ;p ~SDC~
You can try selling your declaration of war to an AI that doesn't like your intended victim. Works most of the time and doesn't require a vote by your Senate. ~SDC~
Congrats to MWC for 1 Million! :CONGRAT: It's quite an accomplishment... :) ~SDC~
Matthew - Bravo! Fantastic story! :HOT: ~SDC~
That's a good point. What are you trying to achieve? A game where one has to build starbases to gain a foothold in a new sector before plunking down a colony? Interesting, but as you point out, maybe the AI can't handle it. ~SDC~
Maso should *definitely* be in a different category, though.
True dat yo. I like this idea. But I also like the way the Metaverse is currently setup. I'm easy. I'll play it however the devs set it up. ~SDC~
Well, I, for one, am glad to see good ol' 'The AI is CHEATING!' threads rather than yet another discussion on the Metaverse... LOL ~SDC~
I don't know about later versions.
I'm working on a version that will be compatible with the X-Pack. It will be out when the X-Pack is. The URL to download the Writer is: http://www.ctuit.com/bill/galciv.htm. ~SDC~
Well, I like the new better scoring for the higher levels *alot*. Am I hallucinating or did the Yor get a little work done on their AI? They are no longer the chumps of the universe in my games. It might be just that when playing on Crippling + Maso the bonuses help cover up the Yor's failings, however. ~SDC~
Well, I'm going to be the one dropping the ball on this. Finishing up my Medium-Crippling took longer than expected, now it's the holiday weekend and it's the wife's birthday as well so there'll be precious little GalCiv time for me. (:( Sorry! I'll check in later this weekend to see if any new installments have been posted. ~SDC~
Yes, I just read this installment. :) It'll be a couple of hours. I've got to get home and have a glass of wine or two. My muse likes to be a little tipsy before she comes a callin'. LOL ~SDC~
Yes, after awhile the + range techs pile up and a negative range ship can gain range beyond zero, but it serves the purpose in the early game. You could always count up how many + range techs there are and then give a range setting that's equal to that (number + 1) * -1 to ensure it'll never get above zero. ~SDC~
See you around Cotal. :) ~SDC~
Thanks for the link, Base Delta Zero! ~SDC~
A belated congrats to the new vets! :CONGRAT: Bluesteel is right, there has been a deluge of promotions lately. And the Stardockians are posting more. Good times on the forums. :HOT: ~SDC~
:D Nice plot turn! I'll have to sleep on this. Besides, I believe it is vincible's serve... ~SDC~
“But of course, the finest cheese from the Shire for the Master.” I recovered quickly, clapping my hands to summon the servants. Inwardly, I cringed at this ostentatious show. Ray was really slipping into the dark. His callous treatment of the townsfolk was one thing, but the constant preening and need to lord his position over all around him was almost too much to bear. Making small excuses, I departed away from the Council Chamber. It was easy to do, as was the wont of the
are you void of a conscience? do you like to see your subjects suffer? do you love PQ bonuses?
LOL Hilarious! ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Have you set Stardock Central to 'Show Pre-release Versions'? View >> Show Pre-release Versions You might have to close out and re-open afterwards. ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Well, I'm glad you are back too. :) ~SDC~
I see vincible is as concerned as I over 'Evil' Ray. Perhaps it is time for someone else to bear the Ring of Power? It seems to be warping the Wanderer. ~SDC~
Hmm... lots of good stuff in this thread. I'm going to have to read it more carefully. Interesting that some can actually get the AIs to trade with them. It must have been my starting picks holding me back.
