I'm more of the opinion that CERTAIN resources should be global, and others not so much. For instance, I think good cases can be made for Gildar and Food to be global w/o diminishing the fun factor. Making any resources non-global would no doubt increase the micro-management, but these two especially would hinder empire/kingdom development in a frustrating way me thinks. I do disagree that this is a major issue at the moment however. I think any number of other systems

Wits, well thought out and articulated post. I'm not 100% convinced Elemental's issues need an entirely new design philosophy to solve, but this deserves a read and serious consideration from Stardock.
I personally never ask for refunds in videogames no matter what. If I get burned by a game because I bought it withouth informing myself about it and/or because I decided to skip my responsability and trust X about Y, then I didn't deserve that money anyway*. That company X gets more of my money or not is another story...
Word.
I like this as well.
I concur. I actually mentioned something like this in a couple posts/responses.
Great Post AndyRoo, These ideas have merit. [e digicons]k1[/e]
You can raze a city presently, just not from the GUI. Select the city and press 'x'
I'm somewhat concerned that a boolean value essence means that I will just imbue every champion because there is no longer a downside. It also removes a primary reason to be concerned about leveling my sovereign, namely that his essence is my only real source of more channelers. I'm worried that such an overhaul will remove one of the unique features this game has that actually works pretty well from a gameplay standpoint.
</p
Tim, there's some good stuff in there. A lot of the ideas have merit. I had just a few myself: https://forums.elementalgame.com/395249
I concur on these.
Frogboy - welcome back, I'll bet you need a vacation from your vacation [e digicons];P[/e] . At any rate, thanks for the update, and thanks to you and the team for the continuous work. Much appreciated. Couple impressions: I like the direction with minor factions. Lots of good ideas thrown out in this thread that would give them more personality. I look forward to what you come up with. Count me in the "concerned" camp with shared mana pool.
Here's a handful of ideas that I have about making the gaming experience have more depth. Apologies if anybody has already thrown these out somewhere, I don't recall seeing them mentioned previously. Don't unlock magical and legendary armor (and weapons/equipment for that matter) just by researching the tech (not even for purchase in the Shop), require the player to also build a Wizards Tower or Forge, and/or have a Hero that is a Caster\Smithy
Same here. I've never been able to complete this quest.
I have also routinely experienced most of these issues. I too have a decent rig (quad processor, 4GB RAM, 512MB Nvidia video, win7/64bit) but haven't experienced #6 yet per se. However, I watch the memory footprint climb to over 1.5GB routinely and get serious lag and hang when that happens. After a save, quite, restart, load, it comes back down to around 700-800 MB. I see number 3 occur on other resources beside shards, usually seems to happen when they are on\near my influen
Seeing this all the time in tactical now...probably the most frustrating thing about the game for me ATM. I have had luck, clicking on another champion and then back on the offending sovereign/champion, but still drives me crazy.
I agree with the OP about the demon.... at least in the game's current form....and for that matter dragon recruitment on the Kingdom side. Not necessarily a fan of nerfing the units per se, but limiting the recruitment or making them more difficult/costly seems warranted. I remember Brad saying pretty early on that these really strong units would be rare and special... in the current state you could end up with armies of them late game.... me no likes this. Just my $0.02
Load up saved game and try entering the Yithril city bounds of Amiirii, crashes every time.
Happened to me too between turn 350-400.
Look like its might happen on end turn? But have consistently had the crash on this saved game within 1-2 turns.
I'm having all kinds of memory issues under Win7 64-bit. Routinely watching the memory footprint creep up to 1.2-1.3GB before a crash. Can't force a reclaim on the memory by minimizing the window either like you can under XP
The original OP is also correct however that 'tile build' doesn't go thru the city build queue. I think I actually prefer the old method of having the pioneers do the building on these resources.
Quoting mormegil, reply 3You can also give old items away, to NPC's our even trained units. How? I tired everything.
If they are in the same group/stack, drag the item from your inventory to the circle icon of the desired unit in the lower right.
There can be only ONE! [e digicons][/e]
Slainangel52
Those are solid ideas.
All - I don't want to keep anybody from posting out of memory crashes, but a temporary work-around in case you'd like to finish a game is to run in windowed mode, and periodically minimize and then restore the Elemental window. This forces a garbage collection at the OS level and reclaims memory.
