You should also throw in a mention about how to do fast ship designs. I.e. double click components to add them onto a hull type (which automatically places them) kinda design. Then beginners dont have to be confused about hardpoints and dont have to worry about having to take a long time designing a ship if they only want to upgrade engines. Ship design can be very confusing the first time through. "You can become the ultimate behind the current power broker " I think that that i

Citizen Phil Schwan [quote It does beg the question: why not treat "file without version number" as "version 0", and handle it like you will other versioned changes? I'll be the first to admit that backwards compatibility code isn't always worth writing, but if a patch that makes previous saved games unplayable doesn't qualify, I don't know what does. Which isn't to say that I'm ungrateful; more curious. ] Well probably because there's been multiple versions. Th

Hmm, I tried a reply earlier but I dont see it. Anyway, the differances of AI in difficulty settings is outdated in the manual. It refers to things such as SUB NORMAL difficulty that I dont think are in the game anymore

What about resources? As in you can't build your own base after you blow one up on a resource ? Theres a differant thread about that already with a bunch of replies. I'm pretty sure they know about that one, it can be fixed temporarily by exiting game and starting and loading your game again. </

If you move the mouse very slightly but not off the thing you're mousing over, the pop up should come up more easily. Yeah, I've done that with some things. But it doesn't seem to work on the food production stat, its the top left stat on the planet screen. Regardless of where I move it, it doesn't seem t

I'm using windows XP pro, running the game full screen (or sometimes windowed) at 1024x768 resolution, same as my desktop which is set at 32 bit color. Running gal civ 2 ver 1.0X.010 Mouse scroll wheel on the planet screen on a bonus description in lower left (highlight a bonus tile) works opposite as expected (opposite of all the other scrolls). Scroll down and it moves the text up instead of down. All other scrolls I've come acros

I think that may be a differant bug with those particular components, or perhaps a combination of the bug I came across and your component bug. Mine is just that it will seem to let you remove it (no error message) but it puts it back on. If you use the list of parts installed on the right to select and remove it. If you manually locate the part from the 3d view, select it, then click remove, it actually removes it. But good find on that other bug. I'll update my OP to indicate you fo

Yeah, but are you supposed to see which planets are colonizable, and which have not been yet? (notice the two planets I circled in the screenshot). In other words, without exploring the map, I know that I need a total of 4 colony ships to colonize all availible planets in the galaxy, I know EXACTLY where to send those 4 colony ships, and if I rush to invest in troop transports, I know exactly where to send them all to the single enemy planet. ALL without exploring a single parsec. <br

This was fixed in 1.0D1.007 I'm using windows XP pro, running the game full screen (or sometimes windowed) at 1024x768 resolution, same as my desktop which is set at 32 bit color. Running gal civ 2 ver 1.0D.006 from stardock. Exploit 1: When sending a survey ship to an anomaly, the little area at the bottom of the screen tells you what the anomoly will have before you visit it. Examples are MONEY05, TRADE, DIPLOMAC

I'm using windows XP pro 32 bit ver, running the game full screen (or sometimes windowed) at 1024x768 resolution, same as my desktop which is set at 32 bit color. Running gal civ 2 ver 1.0X.010 from stardock. Sometimes when removing things (by clicking on it in the installed parts list) on a ship (especially when doing an upgrade) they stay in the list of parts, although they can not be clicked on anymore. Often if you try to remove

I'm using windows XP pro, running the game full screen at 1024x768 resolution, same as my desktop which is set at 32 bit color. Running gal civ 2 ver 1.0D1.007. There's some weirdness about mouse hover and the descriptions that popup. It doesn't always work. Its especially annoying in the planet screen when hovering over the stats to see what contributes to that particular stat. For instance, food production is almost impossi
