Well it looks like the links have finally been fixed and I was able to use my tokens to purchase a game. I would still like to know if I can purchase Entrenchment with my remaining tokens. Anyone here been able to do that? The link at the top points me to impluse and I do not see a token purchase option there.
If you click the word "PRE ORDER" it will get you to a page that allows you to use the tokens. If you cl
We could try posting in the forum. I think that would get more notice. I still would like to know about using 4 tokens to pay for part of a 6 token game.
You can email stardock directly ( I think) to buy any missing tokens to complete your purchase. In your example you'd ask stardock to buy 2 tokens and then you can get Elemental with your last tokens. From then on in you can only order directly
The fact that peer DRM hasn't been seriously implemented already implies that at some level, publishers don't consider piracy THAT big of an issue. Because if it were, then you'd have peer DRM already. [fast forward] People who don't make stuff tend to find ways to rationalize piracy. But the people who do make stuff will always have the upper hand. Even now, piracy is driving some genres of games off the PC and onto consoles which are DRM'd already pretty thoroughly.

Maybe a succession system could be the way to avoid the fact that those that are strong early on will have a great chance to win. You would also have to think about succession.
:)
Well since this is supposed to be a RPG I think a lineage system should be used. One like in Crusader Kings or like the system in the Total War series. It would really expand the game play options especially will heirs and traits.
</
Would it be possible to cut any game into some core block: -World (can be anything from a chessboard to a first person map) -Objects (anything that is just subject to physics, such as bullets and vehicles) -Agents (this can be either a human player input directly into the computer, or over the net, or a computer AI player) -Graphics (really just an 'Agent' that only observes) I would imagine that for a game each of these entities can run on a separate core
The question should not be 'what can we do with the extra cores' but 'how much benefit can we get from it, for the effort it takes'. As mentioned before, making multithreaded software safe/stable is hard, and it takes a lot of extra work to make it work. The more threads the more problems. GPU's are sort of multi-core in their set-up but it doesn't require much special work from the developer to make use if that because it is dealt with by the driver. The best way to get multi
The system is keyed off of your billing address, so simply being in North America won't do the trick.
sounds like I just need to change my billing address then ;)
Yarlen:
As a workaround, if you can find someone in North America to by the game for you as a gift, that will work fine.
How does that work? I have several colleagues and friends in the USA that would be willing to help me. How can they buy the game for me as a gift so that I can download it and play it or do they need to download it for me and then send it over? As a final option: Would it be possible to buy the game myself with my laptop next time I'm in the US
I see what you mean. As far as Stardock software is concerned, the archives are just zipfiles renamed to sdc files so you can quite easily just unzip them manually to install. I think at least Galactic Civilization allows you to type in your serial number in the game directly but I'm not sure on all other programs. I do agree that it would be nice to provide this sort of information or a service for this automatically. Will stardock central completely stop functioning at some point? It s
Can we please relax about this for a bit? Yarlen has stated, in this very thread, that they are looking into a 'solution' for the situation you describe. I think it is reasonable to assume that this is NOT their top priority while launching a new system such as Impulse but I for one am unwilling to assume the worst just yet. Stardock has gone through a few iterations with Totalgaming and so far the 'veterans' of the system have always come out on top. Let's be patient and see what happe
oh, zuffdaddy, if you want I can host the file on my own domain if that helps. (unless there are serious legal issues with it).
I can't download the rar file either, but would really like to try it :-/
-Your goal is to eliminate the dominators -Kill the dominator bosses, the rest follows from that -At later stages of the game, talk to dominators before killing them. It might provide useful information. During the game you will get information about the three types of Dominators (Kelleroid, Terranoid and Blazeroid) You need to defeat all these 'bosses' to finish the game. Terran and Blazer can be found on the map (one in the system where the 'big battle' was when t
I'll pass on that The stardock version works well enough for me so I'd rather spend more money on stardock than on starforce. thanks for the reply.
I expected a different question for this topic: Is it possible to buy a box for SR2 through Stardock/totalgaming? I've been losing way too much sleep from this game so I think I'd like to have a box to display the source of my sleeplessness to friends
You wouldn't be able to do DRM like starforce without a disc anyway, right? But here, here, I would not buy this game with starforce, but from what I've read now I probably will. thanks!
Haha Darn i never going to find the time to finish Baldurs gates.... And I thought I was the only one who still had this gem on his computer waiting to be finsihed
Civ 1 and Moo 1 definately have cost me a lot of nights sleep. MAN they were great, and still in every new game I look for some of the good things from those games.
heh, nice one Nullspace
The only gotcha I see what that though is that it could make turns take significantly longer. Random numbers are pretty slow when you do enough of them. I would think that you would probabpy gener
One thing I have not seen mentioned here is that a ship can only target 1 other ship at a time. I was facing Yor fleets with every (medium) ship having 40-60+ beam attack, even the troop transports! This means that every one of these ships pretty much killed any of my ships in one shot in battle, regardless of the size (no Dreadnaughts yet). This 'defensive' tactic worked really well because I was honesly scared of going up agains these fleets. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL
Suck up to your neighbours, make friends, ensure that your enemies are enemies of your friends. That saved me sometimes, but only 1.5 planets is a bit tough I'd think. Also use influence to try to capture other planets, that is possible without making other races too angry at you.
Wouldn't it be nice to get some bias in the tech development for every race. i.e.: If a race spends a lot of time researching a specific weapon tech then that line of the tech tree becomse cheaper because of the affinity that race has with that topic, and other topics become more expensive. This means that it becomes beneficial to really focus on a certain play style, and development policy.
But attacking with an inferior force in Galciv is just plain suicide, you don't mean to say that you do that a lot do you? I don't mean you need a huge military force, but I mean that I pick my battles such that I am fairly confident I'll win (like attacking a freighter or a lone fighter if I don't have a large enough force to attack a fleet). For this reason the most interesting battles would be the onese that my opponent picks <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif"
