Doreen: I don't know about their reliability as a vendor, but: http://www.clear-viewtech.com/ Clear Lexan (a product name for polycarbonate, the same type of superstong plastic iMac and PowerMac cases are made from) cases are quite popular. There is a problem though, as plastic isn't good for EMF shielding. Your PC could affect your radio, and your television, and if strong emissions are detected from your residence, the authorities WILL pay you a visit (incidently, Macs get around this

heheh, my interview was OK... only problem with it I saw was the timing... you can't tell that it was a three hour chat on IRC, so things said after a couple minutes of silence look like I said them immediately after. Makes me sound far too impatient :>
crae, reread the post there: http://www.anim8or.com
Because I'm not sure whether it's sarcasm or simply poorly worded ("never attribute malice where you can ignorance", as the saying goes). The second question sounds like you're asking how much someone should pay you to make the icon for you.
I can't answer that with a solid number... it all depends on the artist doing it. I'd say start at $50 USD. If that doesn't work, raise it a few bucks (10-25) and try again. Be sure to check out the person's work (and make sure it's -their- work they're showing you) before starting the job. A bit of advice: it's best to pay for stuff like this, as it develops a business relationship, and potentially a friendly one. If you pay someone to do jobs for you, eventually you'll be able to leve
troblem = problem
Well, Doreen, the troblem is the wire traces are still visible, makes colours like pink look "dirty". A board I'd like to see is one with White PCB with all the traces and the plastic connectors done in a gold colour. Abit almost did something like this, but not quite (the connectors were their "standard" colours).
You know I love ya Dor =P Anyway, in my experience, those that don't know any better are the worst of the lot for exactly that reason. Let me explain: as I've said, I've done free stuff in the past. Not all of it was a nightmare. Particularly, doing work for Mian and Gorman were memorable experiences. Why? Because they knew how to work with people, and have had experience doing it with people for pay. When I did some free stuff for them conversations were full of "please," "tha
"Like animals, when confronted with what we feel to be a threat, we attempt to intimidate the offender (which is why some people call me variants of "big meanie head")." Nothing like a lesson with examples. I've done this before, gentlemen, you keep forgetting this point. I've done free work before. I've refused it before. Starting out, I did exactly what you suggest, being nice. I've written emails so sickeningly sweet you'd swear I was related to Doreen (no offense doreen =P
Bad day? Nope, good day, as is typical of me. Phar0e, I take it you're not one of the older members in this group (nothing wrong with that, just relevant to what I'm saying)? A lot of the "old guard" here that remember me from the days long past when skinz.org, and even customize.org, know why my responses are "overkill". You see, humans, as a species, like to think themselves intelligent, rational creatures. The truth, however, is that we're just as stupid and stubborn and panicky
Appears that isn't the first time AOpen has sinned. Yes indeed, AOpen makes it possible for your PC innards to come in fabulous Barbie pink: http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/akiba/hotline/20001209/sweetkiss.html
Thought I'd drop this in, since most of you aren't big on this kind of stuff but will get a kick from this anyway: http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/pc/docs/article/20010622/aopen1.jpg http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/pc/docs/article/20010622/aopen2.jpg A new evil has been wrought upon humanity. (BTW, for those that don't know, that's a motherboard. Image 2 is the back side.)
"Uncalled for" my fanny... Get these things for a couple years. You grow to wish evil things upon anyone that asks this, regardless of who it's directed to. People who don't give you anything for work are not fun people to work for. I've done it a few times, early on. It's a horror, cos it's just like a pay gig, except, well, you aren't getting paid. Imagine going to work for wherever you work for, for nothing... no pay. Don't care how much you like making stuff, it's a whole different
"But it's freeware! Waah!" I'm going to be blunt about this, because I see these requests everywhere, all the time (in my email, on forums like this, etc), and quite frankly I think they're worse than spam. We do not exist to sit here waiting for every little me too programmer with a gimmick app to come say "HAY MY PRGRAM IZ KEWL AN UR KEWL 2 SO MAK SUM KEWL ICONZ 4 IT??????????" so we have a break in our daily routine. Let me make it a little clearer: I have several large proj
www.macofalltrades.com The have some nice cheap 7200s there. The "internet startup kits will do you well, particularly the 7200/120 (120MHz, 32MB RAM, 1GB HD, CDROM) which includes both the Mac and an Apple Multisync 17" monitor for $199 total. It'll be slow, and I don't know if it can use OS9, but it'll get the job done. Altenatively, if you want to be able to give OSX a whirl, and feel up to shelling out a bit more, they have good deals on Blue&Whites (the G3 PowerMac in the
You need something that will create the icon pre-stuffed. I know of nothing worth a damn that does that, and even if I did, most mac users downloading from you would think you're off your head when they find each individual icon has been stuffed. The rest of you, serves you right for sleeping through reading comprehension back when you were in school.
Resource forks are fun. They also mean you're out of luck.
They all suck. Those who have seen preliminary mock ups of my "secret project" know what a real icon editor should look like. HD: Your software is bogus unless it's stuffing the icons when it makes them. You can't make Mac (not MAC), icons on a PC due to differences in the filesystems and how they're used. thecat: Mike sucks, but Ax-Icon's UI was done by a complete moron. Along with most of the other editors. No thanks. If you want to see something closer to a worthy editor, lo
