You are not supposed to fill in all abilities both on General tab and your specialization tab.... They are there to present choices. You have to specialize in something, there's no point to try to be master of all elements with last summons and all other spellcasting perks. For example Assassin you can chose to go either for Bow related skills, or Melee ones, there's no point to try to get both since you can only have 1 single weapon equipped at a time. As a mag
Quoting Anelyn, reply 6 I don't think spears are as good as you make them out to be. Sure you can get a victory using only mages and spears, same as I can only using archers and maces or axes or swords. That does not prove one is better than the other. Regarding mages they are fine, but don't underestimate archers / xbows. What do you do if you have to fight fire immune monsters and your m
You can win the game with any type of unit / weapon / armor you like, you can't really say spears are better than axes or hammers or swords. You need to look at the big picture and all the spells / abilities at your disposal not just spear 1 square extra range with impale or 50% armor ignore. I love to summon an air lord to knock down groups of enemies then rush in with my axes and chop chop cleave em all with no fear of retaliation.
Also at victory conditions, change Diplomatic Victory to: Create and hold an Alliance with all players left in game for 30 seasons (or something like this). Is really too easy to get this victory as it is now, pretty much if you have a slight start / faction power compared to rest of AI's, is the quickest way to win the game without even breaking past mid game tech / research wise.
I would really love for AI to value resources EVEN if they have some of those. It makes no sense to attempt a trade with an AI player who got 20 metal, and I'm offering him 50 and the perceived value is 0. Really? Same with crystals, horses and wargs. As it is now you can't do anything with your surplus of a resource except money - Gildar, and research knowledge. It makes no sense at all. If I'm stranded in a location and only resource available to me are horses or m
^ That's how it is precisely. They are Legendary, but not invincible. You can't take a single hero and go wipe the map like a GOD. If you want to be a GOD then cast spell of making :D
That sounds great :) Then let me quickly add Resoln --> Ceresa after Tarth, before you get other requests :) I had a blast playing her, and can't wait to see what you can make out of her :)
The whole point of the game, and it's main focus, is MAGIC. Sure if you want you can play and win a map without using magic (I did it with Kingdom of Tarth, Assassin Sovereign and champions, no spells used other than town improvement ones (the ones you start with) and the tactic spells Irane starts with. So when they designed the unrest reducing buildings, they kept in mind the Magic part which also helps reducing a city unrest. Same for research, food, unit training, produc
No idea why you're having problems. Am currently in a game on a large map, just breaking out of my corner and making contact with neighbors in a more direct way, and my Sovereign is almost level 17, 2 other champions closing on 10, and the 4th is soon level 8. Unless you play a tiny duel map warmonger approach, I have no idea how you could be level 8 and finish the game - oh wait I do, if you just tuck in a corner with 2-3 cities and focus on research and get an all
Am sure the AI (and player if the situation ever presents itself) can surrender, in which case all their towns / units are destroyed / erased, and you receive their Sovereign as a unit (to be your champion), but he/she will be found at the location he was when surrender took place (with no troops on him / her, but with all buffs, equipped items etc). That because I had Porcupinee (ops meant Procipinee :D) surrender to me in a previous game and that's what happened. Interesting fac
I don't agree with OP and other peeps sustaining his point of view. XP split is a very good mechanic. It forces you to make choices, do I want 1 super duper hero, or a pack of mid tier ones? Let's compare: 1 Level 10 hero will have less hp, less defense, less attack than 3 level 4 heroes. He will be able to use higher level items (weapon mainly) which will give him better attack, true. But having 3 different types of
I doubt anyone uses those spiders from mid game onward :)
Why would you want to turn them all into death shards? Only few spells benefit from more death shards. And you will still use other elements (even if not on your Sovereign but on champions). Variety is better in all cases than stacking 1 thing and one thing only :) Then again, it's a matter of taste if you want to transform them all or not :D
Maybe change Regeneration to have only a cast cost with no maintenance and last for 3 seasons, healing the unit for 25%, 15%, 10% of HP for duration? (45% in total, so you have to recast it on same unit to heal it full - since units still heal each season by themselves). This way you don't have to cancel it next turn from 10 units or forget you put it on and have a drain on mana etc (is really not a problem past early game in current incarnation as you can simply le
I don't miss it. They need to focus more on the strategy aspect of the game than small RPG flavors (which are plenty in already).
Treaties still exist is a glitch for some reason. Had those messages popping next turn after forging alliances. Yet all info (kingdom overview ---> foreign relations and the basic power meter with faces) shows that we are still allies (and have the treaties in effect).
I don't think spears are as good as you make them out to be. Sure you can get a victory using only mages and spears, same as I can only using archers and maces or axes or swords. That does not prove one is better than the other. I always try to mix as much as I can, having some Axe's for cleavage, some Mace / Hammers for blunt dmg (great vs golems / skeletons), etc. I can't imagine going with spears against skeletons. Painful! </p
Honestly, I feel the heal buff + the heal trait has made those spells too strong, for a low-mana spell that can be cast every turn. Healbot mages seem way more useful than fireballers, that's for sure.
The damage scales far faster than anything you could heal. Swarm bonuses, Maul, Cleaves, spell damage etc. Healing spells did need some love for sure as they were useless before. Mana costs for low
I would just note that I don't think Flame Dart ever becomes overpowered, considering the 3 turn cooldown. It becomes useful at high levels, yes, but how often do you bother levelling an evoker to get to that point? I've actually changed mine to do more damage than default, and I'm quite happy with how it plays. Summon Skeletal Horde, on the other hand, is one of the best spells in the game (even
Posting here as well: BUG report: Assassin path: -Break skill does not work. This needs to be fixed because is one of the reasons an Assassin sovereign or champion would work, sinc
Ah interesting. Thanks for reply. This explains why is so easy to expand quick with Resoln, since you get loads of early-mid game free units which are either very tanky, or deal a lot of damage. So you can focus on spells / culture instead of warfare and still have a potent army.
Well can only hope they fix those things before release :) To me it makes perfect sense to have at least an Assassin sovereign / champion with kingdom of Tarth :) It gives you more diversity than forcing you to have spellcasters everywhere with meatshields (and/or summons) to support them.
Howdy, so far I have mainly played with Ceresa / Resoln as I like their darker / misty nature. Everytime I upgraded shrines, I was feed various types of elemental creatures (each of a specific element depending on type of shards). Recently am trying to play with Igraine, and despite I am in late game, with fully upgraded various shards, I never received a single elemental unit from them. Then again I have not a single spellcaster specialized hero
There are still boots from magic research that makes your troops immune to being knocked down. And they are not so hard to get if you focus on research and magic :)
