If Rainmeter is heavy on resources, something else is going on as Rainmeter, by design, consumes a miniscule amount of resources and is entirely dependent on INI files. I'll post a screenshot of my desktop later which shows a massive amount of ini's loaded (all of which are auto updated every .5 - 60 seconds) with a 0.6% CPU load and 26.9MB of memory. There is a setting under explorer backgrounds called "Fade Texture" and you probably have it ticked. Untick it, apply the change and your textures/backgrounds will appear as intended

Through SkinStudio you'd have to edit the tga files with Photoshop, or an equivalent that allows adding alphas channels. You can find instructions on how to do so via google. Another way is to directly edit the registry keys for WB: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\WindowBlinds\wb.ini\Global HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\WindowBlinds\wb.ini\Global2 forceTaskbarAlpha should have a value between 0 - 255, and if you do not currently have taskbar

How did you assign the Alpha channel. within the picture file itself using ARGB, or through the theme configuration options within WindowBlinds? If you did it through the picture file, I'm not sure what's causing the error, however I've discovered the same problem while skinning start 8 with custom Alpha values when editing it in SkinStudio. This leads me to believe there's non-compatibility with Win 8.1 on this select process.

You can do this yourself, and it is fairly easy, though a bit time consuming... You have two options, and I would recommend the 2nd: Open the theme you want big buttons in within Skin Studio (right click on theme within WB and select edit, or open Skin Studio and open the theme) Navigate to: Edit Titlebars and WindowFrames - Edit Per Pixel Buttons (I use the advanced settings [ I am an experienced user ...]
