Thank you Stant123 and Myfist0 for the links. :) I've been wondering how to 'tweak' things to play more the way I've thought ships would behave in battle. Like carriers hanging on the outskirts of a battle giving support, torpedo and missile ships staying JUST within missile/torpedo range and withdrawing if attacked. Little things like that. What

Any text editing program you feel comfortable using... That is, after you've converted the files to text format...
Thanks for editing the files, I'll give them a try. Also, what do I use to convert them to text

But it is included as a minimod add on for those who do like it because there is a large enough group that does like having it. It's not up to date though. To do this is somewhat easy as well. All you have to do is grab a cop

I actually think the pirates for once were balanced. A force to reckon with and as long as you keep them away until you get a starbase and some mines sat up you can handle them. Once they hit the minefield (even their strongest force), it tares them up enough for a starbase and 2 cannons (TEC) to tare them appart. As for taking out their base, simply wait until either a raiding party leaves or lure out the raiding party (death to the system you used to lure them o

The thing I like about Stardock is even after a game is OLD by most people's standards and they even have the next release coming... they STILL support and add to the old game. There are SO few companies that do that anymore in the gaming world. Stardock, Egosoft,
Make that an optional thing. Some of us like the deep, long games that are scaled big. I'm not a big fan of MP and enjoy a long, big scale game that takes a while. But I also understand that others like the MP and agree that going large scale can be annoying. So an optional setting would be nice.
Great minds think alike, Ryat. I personally like long and big scaled games that take me days to complete. Somet

Just a thought that would also impact the game and make things more interesting, fighter pilot school. You have schools to train the crew of a ship for the ship's experience, but why not have a tech to train fighter pilots to hit more accurately and be more evasive? I understand that you can't really give experience to the fighters because they are so short lived, however if the pilots had to go through a school before becoming pilots (hence the tech) then ever pilot getting into a fi

I don't play the online part of this but I'm looking at it like this... How many companies still go out of their way to support a product THIS old? They are still trying to support it and still keeping in contact with their customer base and listening to suggestions and complaints. Patience is what they need from our end. [e digicons]:hrmph:[/e] Granted I do admit that sometimes when the bugs are a real annoyance it is hard to remain waiting calmly...

Guys.... (and gals) you have to remember, IMPULSE was acquired not STARDOCK! What this means is Stardock is STILL going to develop and support their software as they ALWAYS have! Impulse, Inc. which (from my understanding) is the distribution end to Stardock is what Gamestop has acquired. What this means is NOTHING for us gamers is really changing other than the owner of the Impulse Driven platform that downloads our software to us. SINS and Elemental will still b

Whoa... I came across a pirate colonized Gas Giant guarded by 26 cap ships and i didn't bother to look at the number of escorts.... Granted at this point (a new game) i had maxed my military and defense techs and had a large enough experienced fleet to go in and fight them... took about 2/3 of the fleet and all my caps survived but the battle... OH the battle was GLORIOUS! Turned the HUD off and had fun clicking from ship to ship and just followed it through the c
