Come one guys, don't argue in a thread where they tell us we are getting more free patches with more improvements. What I want to know if this is going to be an open beta? (I would guess it is, but still would like some confirmation)
Quoting TorinReborn, reply 17 I stand by my estimate that I would destroy you in 1v1 because I do not turtle like you or play like you. I will stand by my estimate that you would benefit from my advice not to embarrass yourself with such foolish remarks when you do not have any idea who i am! (Boasting is of course acceptable among friends and or people who actually know each other) Any professional gamer
Quoting TorinReborn, reply 14 Maybe you can defeat 10 AI in TA, but I would kill you in 1v1 10 out of 10 times. It is not often i would see such insulting arrogance, even from elite players whom usually hold their cards very close to their chest. Typically most elite players have respect for other people whom they know nothing about and usually people with big boasting mouths are the losers anyway. The reason why you
1) Leaving all adjectives behind, we have "Person A took IP which wasn't person A's and did not pay for it." Is person A guilty? Yes. No one can contest that. 2) Was person A offered a way to give restitution for this property? Yes. 3) Did person A choose that option? No. 4) Did Person A get a fair trial and was person A sentenced correctly per law? Yes. Now we get to the qualifiers such as "sh
Quoting TorinReborn, reply 275Lol, nice post. I have to use netspeak in this case and OWNED is a nice enough word for this occasion Anyways I see no reason why a song writer is allowed to write one song and live of royalties and people paying to borrow the song for use (since they are not allowed to copy it afterwords and give it to others they are effectively not owning it) while rest of the world gets up early
Why are there no Starcraft fanboys on this list?
Quoting gsitetfs, reply 8 I havent played Rise of Nations, but played both AoE and AoE II, single player as well as on LAN. And Total Annihilation was my favorite, I even tried some mods recently (The Lost Legacy, Thalassen Campaign, etc). On SourceForge, there was even a "Full 3D" game using the TA Engine or TA Units.. and they had made the AI so good, I usually lost, even after loading and re-loading save games, whereas I never
All I can comment is: United States of Capitalism...
I find this news good as I found Civ5 fun and good. It had its bug but nothing even close to Elemental. Also at this moment Civ5 is still a better, more polished and a more complete product then Elemental is. I finished Civ5 with all possible victories. I have yet to finish Elemental once. Sword of the Stars is also a streamlined space 4x game but it is also miles ahead of Elemental in polish and content. So, welcome aboard Jon. I hope you can help make this game as fun
Check out my topic about ST: Birth of the Federation if you are looking for a empire building game. Plenty of micromanagement there :) And the battles are fun as well and easy to learn and play.
I loved to play Klingons, their ships were fast and really powerful in close combat. They also had cloaked scouts which was invaluable in early game (especially since minor races didn't like Klingons). And later they had the dreaded Heavy Cruisers :) What previous poster said about late game romulans wasn't true but it was true for Klingon Heavy Cruisers. They were packed to the brim with disruptors and had a free round to attack. The trick was that cloaked ships aways appeared closer
Heh, you see all this you said is actually your lack of experience. I played the game for years and in MP and none of it is true. Combat orders did have effect, oh how they did. Fights did last only a few combat rounds, and in my experience that is good because there were plenty to be had in the game. And trust me Romulans didn't dominate late game. You just had to know how to fight them. Only thing that is true is if Borg came too early they could destroy you. But usually the
Actually when you play on impossible difficulty AI is more then challenging. Playing against that AI took special tactics :) @CaptSisko: No, when I put Win7 on my computer I didn't install BotF again. Although I am thinking of doing it all the time :) I usually start to really miss it every few years and then play it like crazy for a month or two :)
Hi all. I found it a shame that there is no topic about this great 4x game. I am sure I am not the only one that has played this classic game from the same people that gave us Master of Orion. I wanted to have this topic to tell the new players about this game and share fond memories with those that did play it. General info about the game can be found here: http
There are techs in SotS which are available only to the applicable races. Granted they are largely related to their drive techs. But yes, you can salvage any other tech, only that the research time for some of those projects is over 100 turns, so essentially, yeah, you can't get them. Though you can play the scenario which starts with all techs researched I suppose. Then aga
I've not encountered a game where differences between factions are as great as SotS. On the other hand, I don't recall actually finishing a single game as the end becomes an epic(ally slow) grind of killing the opponent's planets. Sadly, I don't really have the opportunity to play multi on it, so I'm stuck with the AI. It's also hard to figure out some of the mechanics of the game without the wiki. I at least finish most of the games of S
While I may not agree with many things the OP said, I do remember hearing that authorities are willing to go as far as controlling DNSes in order to curb piracy. So I don't think I can agree with the owners' sentencing without judging based on the technical concepts of what TPB actually provides. Suddenly I'm beginning to think that democracy was last millennium's fad. The last thing I want is is a government taking control
I noticed as well that you need to set AI difficulty manually afterwards. This is the only game that I know that does this this way. They need to fix things like this if they ever want this product to be polished and called a real game.
Well most human players at the moment pimp out their champions and kill whatever troops AI makes. So you should teach the AI to do the same. Unless future patches will change this again... I hope you are willing to change the AI whenever changes happen in game mechanics :D
If you installed the update you also need to restart the game. Do not try to play in by using a old save.
Ok, where can I buy this game? Preferably with the holiday discount :D
So, what is the future development plan for Elemental? When can we expect 1.2 and/or 1st expansion?
Or there could be spells that give more tiles to cities. Or quests that give you powerful artifacts that give you just that. Or starting sovereign ability.
No, it would not. X-com tactical combat is completely different then MoM or Elemental
Quoting TorinReborn, reply 3Lets continue: 1f. I just got my 3rd invisible child. What I mean, it has the been the 3rd time the game asking me what is the name of my child and then I cannot find that child anywhere on the map. Children need to come of age, not just be born. Check the Dynasty screen to see more info on them.
Ok, that is cool, but the game should move you to that
