@Brad Some questions about the DLC (and the already pre made maps ingame): What exactly is pre defined? - starting positions - fertile land spots - resources, quest, champs, monster lairs? ...or is it "only" the design of landmasses? I love the random maps. But playing a balanced map should be fun too. :)

I think Derek and Brad thought "Lets make an interesting 4x TBS game in a fantasy world and give players as many choices/way as possible. So they can play the game they want. Let them play their own story" And guess what? In my opinion they achieved this goal.
All the factions are boring, the game is just bland.
No it isn´t! If it is boring to you, then it is so. Just a matter of taste like so many things.
The bows in the tech tree? Oh yes, those are great. You need to research 5 techs to get to it and the starting bow gives you 6 damage and I forget how much -initaitive was it 8?
So...you wont a bow early in game with good dmg. and less initiative penalty without needing the luck to find such a rare magical item? And btw. less armor, traits like fast/quick and air magic and you can handle the init. penalty.
I think we play differently. What difficulty and what settings did you play on, and to what turn? I don't see how you can successfuly play a mage early on - playing properly you need to do at-least 1-2 battles every turn with your sov(depending on your movement points), and if you are a mage race you better have a couple of mage heroes otherwise the whole magic tree becomes a waste. Where are you getting 30-60 mana per turn early on?[/
To extrapolate - Sovs play very similary, and just because you picked a mage sov does not mean you will get to do much with that right away. Compare this to some other(the good ones of couuse) fantasy strategy games that feature different races - they will play differently - think of MOM for example. Sovs in this game determine races but there isnt that much difference between them, especially at the lower challenge levels.
And this i

@ntino And its a good thing you made your post. :) I simply wasn´t able not to say "Yeah, but i like the game" ;) What i really don´t understand are comments like from you, harmonius "Every sov. plays the same" I must be doing something wrong. But for me every sov. plays out differently. I don´t play my mage sov. like my melee sov. Why should i do this?

You may not like the game, some of your arguments are (maybe) valid. But most of it is a matter of taste (the randomness, unit design, quests and heros etc.). Sry to say but "EVERYTHING is poorly designed" and "the game/the core is BROKEN" is simply not true (first point) and nonsense (second point). The problem with the greater picture of a fun game is, its for everybody a different picture. I have a lot of fun with FE. And now? Am i wrong? Are you wrong? No, but we have a different

1) I wouldn´t like that. It would make tactical battle take too long. "Standing here, going there." I don´t think that would be fun. 2) This is a good idea. It sounds simple and easy to implement, thats just a guess. 3) This would spice up every tac.battle, but i´m not longer sure if it would be good idea for FE, because it sounds like stretching the tac.battle and i don´t want them to take much more time.
If you think about it, though, there are already a lot of useless toys in FE. Customizing your hero with clothing, faces, backgrounds, unique names. Being able to name your towns, your champions, customizing your soldiers with specific weapons and armor.
Useless? [e digicons]8(|[/e] Its fun. How could that be useless?

hehe... happy Halloween to you too. [e digicons]:)[/e] But a question. Do you have to share your costums? [e digicons]:-"[/e] Left side with the yellow costume (a duck?) this is Derek, right? But on the right side there is the penguin costume, which derek wore last year. Am i right? Brad should pay you more, after all the hard work with FE. So everybody could buy his own costume. Can´t find the thread about the gamespy review. It was a 3.5 / 5 stars. Now on metacritic it is translated in a 70/100 score, although the mods on of gamespy say this..
Our scores are not intended to be directly translated to percentage values -- if we wanted to give it 70%, we'd write 70% instead of three and a half stars.
Fuck metacritic...really!
I've been in the beta since the beginning and I agree that the whole "go play 20 games then come and comment on what needs work" is stupid and is a Fanboyish argument. No one is going to buy or sample a game 20 times before they decide if it is fun to play. IT's Human nature. They will play a couple of games and decide if the game is worth it or not.
How is this a good thing if you sometimes completely steamroll the AI and sometimes lose?! When I play a game I want there to be challenge from the AI every game, to where I lose(not so much the map - in other words, I dont want the map to destroy me unless we are playing Majesty).
I think this is a matter of taste. Because of the randomness (map, AI personality, starting position etc.) its always interesting. Some like that, some not. I don´t have a problem with
Using a gameplay mechanism that is a must for every game is definitely nothing any intelligent human would call cheating.
I´m thirtyfive years old and would call myself an average intelligent human. And reloading isn´t bad, evil or anything. Its a single player game and you can do what you want. I do it myself sometimes. But reloading is cheating. Don´t fool yourself.
For people that say the game is too easy, we say play Pariden or Resoln. Unfortunately, those factions take a lot of micromanagement and careful strategery to be successful so you'll probably think they're boring and weak.
So true. I still try to win a game with Resoln on challenging. (I´m far from beeing a good player.) But boring? Now way. This is what makes FE so much fun. I don´t know why. Maybe i´m not a really good player (okay, i´m sure i´m not a good player [e digicons];P[/e] ), but on challenging i need troops. And i love to design different units for different situations. And why should i not use this great feature?! Maybe it depends how you play the game. I play it more rpg-ish. For example when i play a magic based faction like pariden or resoln, then i try to use mages and monks and ignore the warfare tree. I know it m
