I think Ultima IV was the first Ultima I played back on the Commodore 64. I remember enjoying it quite a bit, and yes it is quite different than most games today. It was a non-linear play style for one. You could pretty much just go anywhere in the world (as long as you survived the monsters of course). You had an ultimate goal, but how you got there was totally up to you. And the conversation mechanics were pretty cool. You'd have to ask people q

I bet if Ultima IV had had a forum, it would have got a lot of similar feedback. If people feel like they have a voice, they are likely to complain and demand things. P.S. I liked the first Beta of FE, so I'm looking forward to Beta 2.
Yay, pathing! Man, I'm looking forward to the next update...
Is Magnar wearing chinmail?
I don't know if this intentional or not, but your money can go negative, and I didn't see a limit. I was trying to buy a shield at the shop and my mouse button got stuck on the purchase button. Next thing I knew I had 20+ shields and my gildar was -4000. A suggestion as well: I had the quest where I freed some old dude from a prison and he gave me a spell. I had no idea what spell he gave me, it would be nice if it said what th
Oh... no wonder I couldn't find it in the help.
I just started playing the FE Beta this week... I know I don't have a lot of spare time. Anyway, how do I flee battles now in FE? I couldn't see anything about it in the Hiergarmanonphenomenon.
Even when a combat can be determined to be close, the AI should probably look at the strategic map closely (particularly when the AI was attacked by us). It should be thinking, should I retreat and join another stack close by? Should I retreat to a nearby city - where I may get stat boosts? It should always be looking for an advantage and also be protecting its cities at all costs.
That was it! Installed the latest beta version (from January) of the NVIDIA drivers and it works like a charm. Thanks. Now I'll let the Stardock support guys know...
Thanks SeaDan, I'll try that. I'm sure it is graphics card related. This laptop has two graphics cards, an integrated Intel one and the NVIDIA one. I had to install the Nvidia control panel to designate which programs would run the NVIDIA graphics card, otherwise it was always defaulting to the Intel one. I checked the FE Debug file though, and it looks like it is trying to use the NVIDIA card, but still failing. I'll get the latest beta and see if th
On my desktop my processor and graphics card are: Intel Core 2 CPU @ 2.13 ATI Radeon HD 430
I tried it on my desktop computer. It has an older processor, but its also 2.1 Ghz. Its also got an older graphics card. And to my amazement, FE works just fine. So, I guess its not a hard requirement to be 2.4 and this can't be why my laptop isn't working.
And FE runs on those, Harpo? I will try installing it on another computer tomorrow. I just thought if you didn't have a good processor it ran slower. I was surprised they would actually put code in to stop it from running.
I've been trying to get FE running on my laptop which I just bought in June. It ran WOM just fine and has a good graphics card. I've been contacting support trying to work out why FE won't run. Today I got this response from support: Hello, It seems that your Processor does not meet the minimum requirements for the game: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M CPU
Oh I c. Pardon, was just getting excited, thought I might be in the early one! I need to get more sleep...
Q: Who gets the Fallen Enchantress Beta? A: Everyone who purchased War of Magic in 2010 will receive free access to the beta. These invitations will be staggered, watch your email to see when your invite arrives.
Is this statement correct? Its not those who "pre-ordered" in 2010?
Wasn't the first week of release in 2010? Maybe I am confused by Island Dog's beta invite announcement.
Surely Lord Xia purchased Elemental in 2010? Seems like he is been on these forums since I first bought the game. Has he just been complaining without actually playing the game?
1) Amazing troop roster screen with 15 randomly located stats/attributes (I need compare them all for each unit? Serious?).
The stat placement doesn't look random to me. And most people would like to see this information and compare it when in combat. Thats called strategy gaming. What would you recommend if this were your game?
holy crap
Thanks guys, I will try the MS Family Safety method tonight. Our computer is located in a public space in our house, and we do try to be there with the kids when they use it, but this isn't always possible (especially when the kids gets up at 6 in the morning and start using it). What's funny from this discussions is how much times have changed. When we were growing up, we had to work at trying to find naked or half-naked women
I've got a young boy who just loves doing google searches (particularly regarding anything Mario related) and then looking at Google Images because he likes to try and draw some of the pictures he finds. I'm concerned with some of the images that appear (even with strict set on google). Seemingly innocent searches such as "Mario Party" or "Peach" can return some crude pictures. Anyone recommend some protection software or have any ad
You only have to wait another week if you aren't part of the beta testers. I think we can manage :) Anyway, we can see how many people end up with cancer before it is our turn.
Aw the roots of artifical intelligence. I use to have Eliza back on the commodore 64. It didn't have too many good responses, it was very repetitive. Siri actually looks a lot more intelligent! Its still not enough for me to go and buy an iPhone 4s for though...
