response to long version 10. I hate balance. Master of Magic was one of the worst balanced games of all time. One of the reasons that I liked it. Part of the fun is taking the worst race with the worst sovereign, and still trying to win.
Here here -- over-balance, where everyone has equal everything, is for chumps. It doesn't take much strategy to win when you start the game with ev
For the most part whenever I see someone complaining about "balance" I know just what kind of criticism the game is in for. It's the veteran MP gamer. It's not too surprising, since most games these days are built and targeted at the dedicated MP gamer. And most online game forums are filled with the same. This gamer is the kind of person who has been trained by years of MP gaming to find the "best strateg
I like the production bonus idea. That sounds like it would be fairly easy to mod
Quoting rlane48... I'm not quite sure I follow you on the "Battles tend to be deterministic if played..." comment? meaning that the outcome between a set of forces is usually set if both opponents equally are good players, within certain allowable variance, (e.i you can predict the outcome) , since time is rarely a factor and considering superior tactics are known by both players
Here here -- he fought the wars for you, now let him run a city and retire in peace.
I think that's awesome -- so many games are uber-balanced... It sucks big time to be a disadvantaged nation that has to buy its resources since it can't produce them for itself, but such is life... what a boring world it would be if everyone had the same advantages and resources, all the time. Try to think about it from the opposite side of things -- if you started out with all of the world's Iron deposits, you'd have a definite advantage over your foe
Look, let's face it, you hire a new guy to help you out, and he goes out and gets stomped on and loses a few teeth. Then he gets thrashed and his leg is permanently mangled. Then he gets his head caved in and can't remember which way is north. I love the system -- all of a sudden it's not so fun anymore to just go around thrashing baddies with your heroes, because your heroes take on the kind of permanent damage you'd expect from getting hacked on with a sw

I found that city management was robust enough, and I definitely felt the effects of having different types of cities, and where those city types were located. I've only played my first map and found that city development kept me quite interested. I think I did notice that building improvements in the cities costs nothing but time? I'll have to confirm this when I next play. If so, it would be nice if there was an associated resource co
When creating henchmen, you should be able to choose their gender (not just male) -- or am I missing something? Noticed a bug when I right-clicked on the trade-route road type progress bar, my game crashed. Any chance we can get "HUGE" maps?
