You have some valid points. My only criticism of your criticism is ....please don't highlight in yellow! Oh my god my eyes want to murder you! Sorry, couldn't help it. Especially with your suggestions (kudos for giving them instead of just whining!). You DO want them to be able to read your suggestions, right?
You know...I have to say Kudos to the Stardock team....Not for the already millions of reasons people have listed on these forums, but for being able to decipher some of these posts! [e digicons][/e] to you all!
Ha 3 to 4 months they wait any longer and it would of been to next year. I would by pass this game then and go straight to Diablo 3 and other RPG's.
Really...as much as there are RPG elements to this game (pun intended), it's first and foremost a strategy 4x game. And if you don't like Diablo 3, try out Solitaire! Wait, what?
Unless users can create templates for random maps, I've never found user-made maps of much use in games like this. The game needs to have the ability to generate maps that are actually large (not just called "large") randomly.
I'm not sure I'm quite getting what you're saying. The resources and quests/locations are randomly spawned. So you can create a map with nothing on it, and you will still have thing
So how is a post like this supposed to be helpful? You guys suck and the game sucks too kind of posts aren't constructive. I understand being unhappy about things, but really....the "this game is broken" posts are just complaining, and it doesn't help anyone.
On the other hand, "you die=game over" is not exactly something you will print on the Elemental Box in the hope it will attract more customers.
I may be taking this wrong, but isn't that how most games work? You die = game over. It's not a hard concept and doesn't need to be in the box. Brad has always said the difference with this game is that you create your character
Yeah, you're right. It's NOT intuitive what-so-ever. *shrug* Hopefully it will be something they change in a future update. And I noticed last night that double clicking in tac battles doesn't work. So I rescind my prior statement. Although it does work for selecting spells to research.
True. I do think the value of the equipment in the shop needs adjusting. It's not right that your peasants with sticks can get the items for WAY less than your uber badass Sovereign.
Have you beaten the game every way possible? Did you try playing differently each time, or did you play the same way? Just curious.
Mtrixis, *Champions/sovereign level ups. Why do they cost such an absurd amount of gildar?
What?? It doesn't cost money to level up. That would be absurd if it were true. Now if you mean why does it cost so much to recruit champions, then that depends on your Charisma rating.
How about hitting shift + tab (within the game) and downloading one of the large maps from impulse?
I noticed that in the beta as well. However, the total points would show up as -1 (or whatever depending on what you chose). However, it wouldn't let you progress because you had negative points remaining. Did the game let you continue?
You know...all you really have to do is read the description for the tech. It tells you what it does in the description. I know I didn't realize at first (I guess used to GalCiv). It says right in the descriptions...look for "notable level"....or "quests"....or "resources". I haven't found one yet that DOESNT let you know, albeit buried in text in the description.
do we have to park "mama" in a City or does it have to be the Capital, before kids can start popping out ?
I don't think it really matters. I end up just sending the bit...err...the lovely lady to the closest city.
I lost (I assume, they had a pretty nasty army against me, but the game crashed with no zip. Here's the debug http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8949112/1/debug.err
I had just created a map, saved it, then went to play it. It didnt show up when I went to load it. So I went back to the map editor, and it didnt show up there either. Then I loaded the default map, and the game crashed. This may be moot as there is a new version soon, but here's the crash zip anyways. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8949112/1/Elemental1_05-2010-08-26T19-22-23-241.zip
Well if you talked to her, what DID she say to you? I noticed however that when you first enter near her area (before killing the trolls) that you dont have to be near her city. Whereas after you kill the trolls, you have to go right near her city in order to talk to her.
Also, I think you're playing it too much like a typical 4x game. The campaign is more limited, and is designed to give you a general idea of how to do things (although not very well explained unfortunately). Keep Relias on the campaign trail and more things will get unlocked to you. Check out the Kingdom Report (button on the bottom left of the UI that looks like a crown). There is a campaign tab that gives you more info about what to do. (Talk to this person, etc etc).
About the horses, I've researched mounted units and had the resource, but still couldn't build mounted units. What am I missing?
It depends on what you're playing. Kingdom or Empire. If you are an empire, you cannot use horses, you use Wargs. If you are a kingdom, then you use horses instead of wargs.
Sorry to continue the trend of personal observation threads, but I didn't see any rules against it so here we go. I'm also having trouble with Notable Location Level versus Quest Level. I can do Level 2 (or 3...can't remember) quests, but I can't pick up the Level 3 Treasure Chests. Which research path is that for?
This is a bit vague when first playing. You have to read the descriptions of the techs themselves, not just
Did you click on it anyways? 1 of two things will happen. 1. You train a Caravan anyways. I've noticed sometimes that units are grayed out when they shouldn't be. 2. It will tell you why you can't train the caravan.
As with my post on Dynasties. I have a few problems with Champions the way they are currently implemented in the game. Some NPCs should already be channellers and should cost more.
I agree with most of what you say except this. The whole point is that magic is very rare, and so are channellers. I don't think any NPC should be a channeller unless imbued by an AI sov.
heh, i missed the part about him being immortal. I gotta read that novel. Perhaps if espionage becomes a reality an enemy faction could bribe/blackmail/coerce one of your kids to assassinate you. @Tofi007 i like that idea, i'm sure stardock will be doing stuff with the spellbooks in future, it makes sense and they have the mechanics there already.
It says it in one
I usually get logisitics and equipment first, then concentrate on the civ tree (for cash). Gold mines are very precious now as well. If you're playing a kingdom, I think if you research one of the adventure techs, more gold mines show up. I find that in the beginning I spread out my research until I get a bigger picture of the map and surroundings, then hone in on a certain research. For instance, if I find myself around alot of shards, I will devote alot of time into sorcery research to hope
