Quoting Tridus, reply 103Having spells not scale well simply obsoletes spells as the game goes along, cluttering up the spellbook with a lot of cruft. If I wind up with Flame Dart, Flame Dart 2, Flame Dart 3, and Flame Dart 4 at varying levels, by the end of the game I'll also be facing units with more HP and more defense. Flame Dart 1 won't get the job done, if it even damages them at all. So the extra research is just to get

Minor Factions: *Kingdoms would want to make them allies (possibly vassals?) while Empire would want to conquer and assimilate them. *Leaders have unique properties, and once the required dimplomatic steps are taken, i.e. Kingdom makes them vassals/allies or Empire conquers them, the leader of that minor faction becomes a champion with unique qualities in-line with that minor faction's traits. *As vassals/conquered folk, player g

Frogboy, welcome home! It's great to hear from you. Of course, all of what you're talking about looks great! Personally, I like the idea of researching magic. This would allow the player to put the starting points into their sovereign to focus on combat/magic/leadership, and lead to a more specialized character. However, I highly recommend making this research multi-tiered: Researching "Level 1 Water Spells" leads to the option to research "Level 2 Water Spells.
...best way to do mana regen IMO is to have magic robe items that improve regen. this will also give players an incentive NOT to take armour, further differentiating magic and combat sovs.
This is a great idea, and harkens to the types of items you could find/enchant in MoM, where some were all-out attack/defense items, some magic oriented, and some a little of both.

Hah! I have been playing a game of MoM recently out of a similar fit of nostalgia. I have played this game since it came out long ago, but I just got Roland the Paladin for the FIRST TIME! This just goes to show how much replayability is in this 15+ year-old game, when I'm still finding new stuff I've never seen before. Damn he is sweet! Too bad he doesn't level-up heroes, though. +1 for all of this. There is a reason that we are all still playing MoM, and you captured a lot of it. Of

Tactical battle suggestions: 1) Troop deployment: Players/AI places troops within their zones of control (sides of the field) before the start of battle. Neither side can see where the other is placing unless they have a special unit/magic to do so (such as a scout or something). This allows PCs/AI to take advantage of: 2) Map objects/special tiles: Either reinstate tactical map objects' special effects, or implement "special tiles" that can have objects on them, such as piece

Holy cow am I hearing great stuff here! Devs, please take note! Of course, I am most anxious for MAGIC! Indeed, please adopt MoM-style #of like "spellbooks" (or skill points, etc.) to determine max spell level in a given branch of magic. Elemental is the name of the game, so elemental magic needs to be earth-shatteringly powerful and diverse. I propose: *Based on the type of elements known, combination spells can be discovered: earth+fire=magma, for examp

I'm just wondering if anyone who is having problems and owns an ATI card has tried reverting to the 10.5 drivers? Here's a link to the Win7/Vist x64 ones: http://downloads.guru3d.com/ATI-Catalyst-10.5-WHQL-Windows-7- I'm asking this just because I recently bought Borderlands and saw that a lot of people owning certain ATI cards were having crashes. It seems us owners of 5770s have no

Good things come to those who wait. I cannot believe the flaming and whining! The sense of entitlement and need for instant gratification in people have reached levels beyond the shameful. Usually, if you buy a product and are not happy with it then you point out the problem, and hopefully the manufacturer/dealer will care enough to solve the problem for you. Whereas you might not be guaranteed a very good resolution with some businesses, you can be darn-well sure that these developer
The downside to tying everything to shards is that, because maps are so random, there's no guarantee they will be anywhere near you, and all the best spells could end up in the hands of the AI, and the player may go a whole game without the best gooey gooey. You can argue the law of averages applies and you'll get at least 1...but in games where that doesn't happen, someone is going to feel they've wasted a lot of time on a map that put that a (100%
I think this review is spot-on, and much of it applies even to 1.05. Again with spells, summoning seems kind of odd. I haven't done it very much, so I could just be confused, but it seems like you can just have one copy of every monster in your spellbook, with no upkeep costs. There seems to be no drawback to just having one of every summon with you all the time. I liked how in MoM, you had to balance the power of summ

Well, as special as magic-users are in this world, the magic needs to be powerful. Like a previous poster said, the fact that the sovereign can only have one finger in the dike balances this. RE: magic power, I think it is underpowered. My fireball should NOT miss--three times in a row! Damage spells like a fireball should automatically do damage no matter what--the enemy should have a resistance based on constitution to save for half damage or to prevent burning on s

Totally agree that the "ESC" key should back out of menus in towns and units; how it is now it goes to the options menu. The auto-centering camera on units is kind of troublesome when you try to set up an angle on the map or battlefield to view everything at once. I'd like that option to me in the game options. However, the meat of the game is great, and it's just these kinds of minor irks and quirks that need to be addressed to make this a classi

I think it is good to go; I'm having fun, and that's the most important thing! Knowing the fact that this game is going to get better and better in the months to come makes it that much better--no

First of all, the game is looking great, Devs! I am very happy with all of your hard work! Comparing Beta 4 to v1 is like night and day! I'm playing the campaign, and enjoying it. I've had one CTD, but found two dumps in my folder, so you can have 'em both. The last time, I noticed that the game started looking a little glitchy, as the mouse icon went screwy. I exited out, and was surprised to find that the mouse pointer graphic corruption carried into Windows 7 x64 as well. I will re

It seems Wisdom is replaced by Essence, but at the character creation you have a Wisdom stat. Maul: In my opinion "The attack inflicts normal damage and the enemy unit looses its next turn" sounds better
Or the unit can just loose its stool.
23. An idea with shards: let the player select (or change) what type of shard they're using. Again, a good way to support differentiation. So there are various "magic shards" around. When they player build a shrine, they dedicate that shard to a particular magic type. So, if I'm playing a fire mage, I can choose to dedicate my shards to fire, and get lots of really good boosts from my fire spells. &nb
1. Quests - I don't really consider 'inn quests' to be quests at all - they're more like jobs. I wouldn't consider clearing out rats to be a quest, it would just be a job you're hired to do. Same with escorting. An inn would be a great place to go looking for work, as jobs would sporadically be available. The inn could be 'lit up' when a job is available, dark when there isn't any work to be done. Instead of unlocking higher level inns as you advance, better jobs would become ava
