^ Practice on SPAZ. It might grow on you.
Yeah, probably not. I burned out on arcade style space shooters long ago. Too much asteroids and similar along with the Star Control games and flat space... I really just have had enough of the arcade style. I like my space battles to be more... 'authentic sci-fi' for lack of a better word.

urgh... I hated the arcade combat of the original Star Control. I loved everything BUT the combat, it was so jarring. Here is a space epic or adventure and uniting races under your banner.... and then you proceed to 1v1 death matches instead of bringing your entire mighty coalition fleet to bear at once... I hate 'arcade space combat'. I guess I'll give it a miss. as much as I want to play a new Star Control I don't think I could stomach the arcade c
Choke points are far superior to open movement in my opinion. Not because it limits the player (though it does), because it makes it easier to give the AI a fighting chance. This was my main gripe in GC2 frankly, open space and massive speeds on fleets just let you do whatever you wanted to the poor AI. SotS is a hybrid in that not every race uses the same movement, but it's also true that playi
Vasari has zero chance of defeating me if I'm playing TEC loyalist because they have no antistructure units, and bombers don't do even a tenth of the damage. EDIT: I personally think antistructure units should be removed and bombers should be beefed up. It would help balance a lot. My opinion just in case sins 2 really is being considered. EDIT: And Please, Please, Please, Dear
So who else thinks that ashes of a singularity is the "test game" for the oxide engine, so that when they make sins 2 it'll be perfect? I hope so!
Hmmm... setting fleets up as 'meta units' could be pretty cool

I've played two of Smarts' games. Battlecruiser Millennium and Universal Combat. Both promised to be basically what Star Citizen is going to be.... both were horrible, buggy, obtuse and over all disappointing. Smart has been caught out before spinning BS about his games and has been notorious in starting flame wars over people trying to give him constructive criticism In my opinion, Derek is just jealous that Cloud Imperium i

1: Diversity in faction playstyle and unit types 2: I love either stealth hit and run, or air superiority. 3: I like an economy that features more than one resource, and rewards strategic foresight and planing. 4: I like a good variety of units, with uniqueness between factions ie: not all factions having the equivalent units with a different skin. I love late game super-weapons and units. 5: I either play coop with my Wife vs AI, or play local network games wi

To me the main point of Star Control was the exploration. meeting strange aliens and allying with them or blowing them into space dust. I honestly hated the arcade style combat myself, it felt counter to the feel of everything else. I honestly hope you guys rework the combat level to some extent, as a 1 vs 1 duel with asteroids style movement just was not fun to me. If I'm building a united species fleet I'd like to be able to actually use that fleet as a fleet. <
It isn't wrong. Just unusual. Most SC1 and SC2 fans are incensed that TGTNSHB (aka SC3) botched so many aspects of the game.
Guess I was younger and more forgiving at the time. Still never liked the combat in any of them though.

The one thing I really didn't like in Star Control was in fact the overly arcade style combat... I mean, to me personally it felt disconnected from everything else. I kind of hope you can modernise the combat to fit better with the exploration part.. One thing in particular that I hated was having ships fight one at a time... if you have this big multi-species fleet roaming the galaxy you should be able to fight together, not 'take turns'
Quoting Wintercross, reply 31 For me the core of Star Control was the exploration and dealing with weird aliens and so on. The Combat was the weakest element that felt counter to the whole thing to me. You have this ragtag fleet of various races ships... and then you du

Anyone seen Screamers? Now that is a movie that would put most people off the idea of autonomous killer drones. As far as robotic weaponry/drones etc, I firmly believe there should always be a human behind the trigger. If it is AI controlled, who is to blame if the machine bombs a school or hospital instead of a military target? There should always be a human there who has all that pressure of morality, duty and the consequences of making a mistake. Also, I&#3
As I mentioned before...WHEN there's a class action suit against them for system failure or file loss due to 'mandatory' update imposition you will see a total arse-about by MS.
Doesn't the agreement they make you accept include a waiver to class actions and such? At least if you're in North America anyway.

It was one of the patches for Rebellion that changed the way starbase mobilisation worked. It's hardcoded now to not let you move a starbase if one is already present regardless of starbase limit in the planet entity. It sucks :edit: To elaborate on why it sucks so much.... I started working on my mod 'Sins of the Sirius Sector' when Rebellion came out. I had replaced the concept of capital ships with mobile 'starbases&#3
