I love the idea, I guess the only issue I can find with this is that we can currently raise and lower the land so in a sense for certain resources city placement wouldn't matter too much as you could just alter the land to get the resources you want... Of course if they increased the amount of mana these spells cost then it could all still work.

Also if you incresed the amounts 5/10/15/20 or perhaps even higher it would then use up more population. I think building armys needs to put more pressure on our population cap.

I think the fact they have brought kael on board shows that Stardock realises that the game needed someone to help give the game a bit of direction and focus going forward. I have no concerns about stardocks ability to make their own choices on whats best for the game going forward.

Fair enough I can see the logic in that, Perhaps then pick a few of your favourite weapons and give them a small chance of spawning on some of the more powerfull monsters that only appear later in the tree, that way people would still have to invest in the adventure tree in order to get them. or perhaps leave weapons to the goodie huts and then if you make a randomiser for armor or rings etc you could add some of those to the high level monsters.

I really don't get peoples self entitlement. Yes the game isn't perfect and there are still some stability issues but the game really has come along way in the last few months. We just need more choices in equipment so we can make our units feel different and specialized. So robes and staffs that increase intelligence and magic res. Armor that increase aim and agility for ranged units, equipment and bits and bobs that add special abilities. Currently as has already been stated it just feels that every unit is some slight variation on dude with armor and a weapon. I know this is something the devs are well aware of. In the time being I would advise you check out both the updated weapons mod and also the adventure pack in the mods forum as they both add more abilities to the game.

Yes, yes and yes... Lairs with their own ZOC, thats bloody brilliant. Then we would get the awesome situation where resources fall inside the lairs ZOC and you have the tough choice as to if go after the resource and clear out the den or if you just leave the monsters alone.
