I like - races mostly human, but with a twist. Think I'm one of the few that liked the original human-dominated sound of the lore (Fallen = Humans, quite capable of being dreadfully evil w'out any Orcs around), but am liking the look of these rather-more-mutated bunch. Most of all, already interested in playing several of them. Well imagined!

I sooo agree with this. Have been playing the beta, and comparing the look with old faves MoM and Heroes of Might&Magic 3 - those games had colourful overall maps that were real aesthetically [e digicons][/e] pleasing. The cloth map look still needs 1) More detail/features to add interest and/or 2) A dash of colour to make it easy on the eye, to get upsides with these. With that in mind, my money's worth: 1) Would be good to have some&nb

No zip file was created tho, the screen just froze completely when the 'Exit' button was pressed from the Main Menu. I had just beaten the game and had a Conquest Victory message on-screen. Then exited to the Main Menu and clicked the 'Exit' button. Have not yet tried to repeat. debug.err file is here: http://pastebin.com/m658a0e94 dxdiag report is here: http://pastebin.com/m2a956369</a

Sacred 1 was wayyy better IMO than Sacred 2 - certainly in terms of atmosphere. It had that traditional fantasy world that looked genuinely dark and medieval (jaw-dropping 2D backdrops and coutryside), and addictive gameplay that just drew you in. The draw-backs were the ridiculously childish names & storyline. Tho the atmosphere took a dive with the expansion, leading to the problems with Sacred 2..... I spent all of 15 minutes on the Sacred 2 demo before giving up -

It does, sort of - It's just that rather than -forcing- victory, your research grants you the ability to set up the end-game, giving you an important strategic advantage over your opponents. I agree it's a mutant conquest victory. This is how it should be, IMO. You use several game elements (which can be advancing 'tools' provided by research) in combination to secure victory through complex moves. Research in both RTS and TBS is just a mechanism for escalating the g

What you describe is also my experience of MOM, when I cast the spell of Mastery - computer opponents struggle to beat me when I can choose the time limit. I'd expect the same in similar games such as Civ and GalCiv (not played them in depth) where you get to set a research 'slider' of some sort. Though no disrespect - both great games. - In AoE the time limit on a Wonder was fixed, and by AoK the AI could be remarkably tenacious in taking down a player-built wo

One Question: How will Creature/Unit creation work for 3D graphics? Buildings and towns, sure I can see how that works - objects are square/symmetric. But creatures are more organic. Will I be able to simply exchange limbs, or will there be easy ways to let our imaginations run riot and create that mother-of-all dragons that we just might daydream about on the way home from work...? Sorry Make that Two Questions: Is there any chance of seeing Naval element

Speaking of tense end-games and alternative end-games, has anyone else ever played Warlords Battlecry, Skirmish option with a 'Temporary' hero, multiple sides and the 'Assassinate' victory condition? [e digicons][/e] Damn, I like that game too much. .... But it's a good other example where you win by going after your opponent's hero/channeler, rather than having to do the full slog of conquest. Just like Chess (Worship the daddy of TBS...)

Hmmmm... I wasn't attempting to -exclude- 'Non-Conquest' victory conditions, I too am a big fan of several alternative paths to victory. But the path to Victory by pure research is tricky 'cos a victory condition, by definition, must allow opponents to 'oppose' it. eg: -AoE (original and best) A Wonder becomes instantly visible to other players, so they try to destroy it... -MoM Start casting Mastery and e

I read this idea and really liked the sound of it - plus we need not assume that exponential growth of power means you immediately win the game. If two players got to this stage simultaneously it would be interesting. Endgame tension is to die for... [e digicons][/e] Agree that victory by research feels incomplete. (Tho in MOM's day, this kind of multiple victory condition was thrillingly advanced). I'd like it if Victory was based around Having to Banish Competing Chann

Couple of other things: - The game Warlords Battlecry 3 (which is great, and has been permanently on my hard drive since v#1, even tho an older 2D game - presumably recognised greatness, as it's on Impulse [e digicons][/e] ) - Had rather good loading screen 'history snippets' that were little slices of gameworld lore presented in faux-documentary historical style. I quite enjoyed this - although hilariously now the game is 5 years old you have to read quite fast to get it all i
