Expect to hear from me again after the beta comes out with feedback and I suggest you look no further then MoM, a game made nearly 20 years ago that took up 5 megabytes on disk and had more "game" then any strategy title before or since. I would humbly offer one exception: Civilization I. I often think back on that game with the same awe that you expressed for MoM. But here, here! Great post.

This is surprising and, indeed, unwelcomed news. Granted I would have mostly played the single-player game regardless, but it makes me worried about its competitiveness. However, I'm sure that if Stardock could make the single player experience it set out to make from the beginning, enough players will flock to the game to justify future development of multiplayer either in this game or in the series's future.

I recently received "The Email," and I'm back and extremely hopeful about Elemental round 2. As it says in the title, I was wondering if there has been anything posted similar to a post-mortem of E:WoM's development. In addition, in the "EMAIL IS OUT" thread, I gave my own thoughts as to the failures of both WoM's and DG's developmental problems: <a href="https://forums.elementalgame.com/415248/page

Reply to EMAIL IS OUT! in FE Beta

AHAHAHAHAHA.... so what is this, now!??! I just got the email. I truly hope that Stardock delivers what it set out to with Elemental:WoM. It was very generous to offer Elemental:FE free of charge to those who trusted enough and wished to desire new voices in the game industry to buy WoM relatively early in its beta. I'm not lying when I say this: I had concerns with WoM from the start. Why? Because simply there wasn't anything equivalent to a cle

The point being, we released the best game we could. We thought it was a great game on release. We can be faulted on many levels but please don't ascribe malice or greed to it. I don't ascribe malice or greed or any other ulterior motive to it. However, you got to understand here Brad: a lot of us are so disappointed because we think the same company who developed Sins could have released a better game. And we still are going to hold you guys to a

Thanks for the update, but frankly I'm disappointed that the post boils down all of Elemental's problems to compatibility issues and all of Demigod's problems to connectivity issues. The fact of the matter is that the post doesn't address the less tractable issues of major problems in gameplay design, and I'm worried that neither Stardock nor GPG has learned its lesson about the haphazardness of both game's design process. Let's face it: Demigod is not on the same level as S
- They took an enormous risk on a genre that hasn't been successful in the US since 1994. (Civilization + Fantasy RPG)
The Age of Wonders series, for one, doesn't count? Don't get me wrong--Elemental is trying to push the genre into new territory and is trying new things. But to say that it is resurrecting a genre which hasn't had a succesful release for a decade and a half is just not true.
- When RTS/Quick

It should not be an option, and every faction should just be able to choose their units' genders. This option should then be replaced with the 2 point option "Haberdashery: Male units can wear fancy hats."

Firstly, yes, this article was pretty exaggerated. That said, as far as releases go, Elemental's was fairly far on the buggier side, no doubt about it. However, it wasn't nearly as bad as this article was making it out to be, and patches have been rolling out pretty quickly. On the other hand, the article also didn't touch upon the game's extremely underdeveloped gameplay. They are right that this game really needed a couple more months of beta testing, as it is still in a rough state

Gamestop's website has it listed, and if I had to bet at least one of my local Gamestops probably carries it too. I get the feeling it's a regional thing, where some region's Gamestops have a more fleshed-out PC selection and others' PC selections are more bare bones.
It's a sandbox game built around player choice and customization, in order for player to design their *own* story experience. If you don't understand the appeal of that, this is simply not the right game for you. There are other games that focus on pure tactical combat much better than EWOM, with very little empire strategy or customization to worry about.
If your idea of unit customization is the ability to change your units'

The problem with this feature, and the major endemic design problem with both the development of this game and Demigod, can be summarized thusly: A bunch of neat features were put together without enough thought given to an over-arching design plan that would integrate these features into enjoyable overall gameplay. As a sandbox game, this has manifested itself in Elemental as a bunch of meaningless timesinks. Unit design is neat-o, but if there isn't any need for strategic de

Who are the mysterious "testers of racial abilities" that are manipulating the people of Altair? Are the Titans back and attempting to corrupt the race of Altair into a new breed of Fallen? Is a new dark evil on the horizon, trying to enslave mankind into a fallen, twisted army to carry out their own bidding? I suspect, in fact, that the benevolent but rather careless powers that shaped the world left a footprint of themselves behind accidentally.

Also, if I recall correctly, river deltas were being formed in weird places as well. I'm sure they'll eventually come back.

Also, at the beginning of the game, the problem is the opposite: Prosipinee (however it is spelled) has access to them very early on, and that early in the game a couple summoned giants that cost nothing (aside, of course, from quickly recharging essence) can simply steam roll any more costly champions or military units. But yes, of course this shall all be rebalanced.

Given the way that units are custom designed, this could very, very easily be exploited if not implemented carefully. For example, it is simply impossible to allow unit upgrades in the field since it means you could simply deploy a bunch of really wimpy units quickly right at the enemy and then upgrade them to fit whatever role is needed on the battlefield. The cloth map isn't shown, but instead what's shown is the rendered view with cloth map figures. This can be seen below, with poor Lady Procepinee buried to her waist and her first city completely obscured by the landscape. When zoomed out, the view does not switch to the cloth map, but rather there is a square of rendered land and fog of war surrounded by black. Initially, the cloth map view worked as normal. The only thing I did to cause this to happen was click on the Resea
