Yes, it is wrong to pirate them. It is illegal. It deprives the developer/artist of the reasonable profits from their work. If you say it is because you cannot afford it, don't like the price, don't like the retailer or ANY OTHER EXCUSE you are just justifying your unethical behavor. It is wrong.

I would like to respectfully disagree with the OP. I think that units should be able to be forced to give up and flee. I believe that it adds depth and strategy and realism to the game. Units willing to stand and die to the last man are extremely rare. I believe it adds interesting tactical options when you have 'cascading morale loss'. This way you can turn defeat into victory by focusing on a small part of the (perhaps larger) enemy army to demoralize a

I also enjoy the feature of being able to rename units. This relates to Ynflaur's suggestion in an offhand way. Over the decades I have gotten into the habit of decorating units and armies which perform unusual deeds. Perhaps it is a ' after their name for participating in a successful campaign, a * for turning the tide of a major battle, or simply renaming the unit from '12th Infantry' to 'Helsinki Guards' for conquoring an enemy capital.

Very nice explanation, thanks. Since we will be customizing units to some extent, will there also be a customization of buildings? For example, if our religion has options for 'areas of emphasis' (such as healing, motivation, thrift or duty) might the church enlargements have optional outbuildings (such as clinic, devotion hall, money changer or Templar House) which might influence units raised in that town of that religion (such as HitPoints, Courage, Cost or Toughness)?

It would be nice to have some race specific building types, and perhaps some for specific types of magic. While the buildings listed above all sound interestign and good to include, they also sound rather standard for games. Perhaps we will end up with some surprising building paths and optionis....new stuff!

The value for me, and perhaps most gamers, isn't in the artwork on the box or the presence of a disk (versus a download), the value is in the play of the game. That will be different for all of us since we are all different. I remember some of the older games (like MoM, Civ I, PG, Stars!) where I would sit down at the computer after I got home from work and then glance up at the clock and see it was 1 AM. That seemed to become increasingly rare in strategy games so I switche

Regarding spies, perhaps there could be possible something like this. If we had a very close match in game stats/characteristics with a particular npc hero, perhaps they would remain loyal to us to the extent that we could send them to pretend to be a hero for another player, yet provide information back to us on that player's activities. IF they were stationed at the other wizard's home then we might have information about spells being cast, maps, quest progress and artifacts (wh

To the OP, Do you mean "Rewarded" rather than "Awarded" (sic).? I have to agree witih Luckmann, Civ4 is a multifaceted game where a top player has to manage and balance a lot of things. I believe you can turn off different victory conditions in Civ4, so you might want to customize that in future games.

I like the ability to name, and rename, units. Over the years I have gotten in the habit in some games, like the old Panzer General and HoI, of developing a list of decorations for units then adding these decorations after they perform particularly well, whether it be a ' for serving in a particular campaign or a * for noteworthy valor in a battle. It is also nice to be able to incorporate name changes, so that the light infantry which conquors the city of Boston may be

Good point on Stars!, GreatVolk. That was one of my most played ever and was wonderful multiplayer. Greatest fear: Unavoidable end game story line. For example, if there are 'world ending' spells which can eventually be researched then the game is forced to end when someone does the research and casts them. I would like the game to at least have the option of being a never ending story. Greatest Hope: Endless variety and replayability and good mul

I have know people who through innate ability and extensive study/practice have been able to do things like charm difficult people, understand other people's motivations (thus predicing their actions) and use their subconscious to find objects they lost. I cannot do these things nor can I fully understand how they do them. Are they doing magic? If so, does that mean that there is 'magic' in the real world? Some people charm cats and horses. Some people predict

I would recommend LineageII. It is a multi-player fantasy game, but don't let the mental comparison to WoW put you off. It was developed in Korea which, IMHO, allowed them to avoid a lot of the 'instant gratification' fixes that western audiences seem to demand. You create one or more characters and choose a server, I play on Sayha. Unlike games developed in the US, LineageII does not protect a player from their own mistakes. Other players can scam you, kill yo
