The problem with blind systems is that after the first time, they are no longer blind. You know what to expect, and research accordingly.
The bad thing about a predictable tech tree for spells is that you learn the optimum path to victory and never deviate from it (much). Stale. Boring. "The Rut".
Well, good, unpredictable AI can help A LOT with this, but one thing I thought of was having the techs move "around" in the tree to a certain degree: each tech has a number of possible prerequisistes that it COULD have, and one or perhaps more would be chosen as a true prereq before each game (if more, they woul

I got one for "he reads". It's a tad strange, but if there was a crazy guy on the street throwing dollar bills at people, would you REALLY be that anxious to make him stop?

Yeah, I personally think that they look quite aweful, but only because they look "unfinished". Once they get some of the more detail etc in, I think it would actually look pretty cool.

I don't know about something like that..... I rather enjoy the predictability of a planned tech tree: you can choose to research an important or crucial technology, and not mess around with getting random crap instead. Imagine in GC2 if you wanted to counter the enemy's missiles with, say, ECM, and you wound up with a bunch of low-level armor that is little to no help. Of course, there could be some randome elements added, but there would be a definite tree that was only slightly deviated fro

You don't appear to HAVE any Karma, so I guess he got that part.....
As I said before, I don' think he's a nutcase. I think he's trying to be 'cool' and 'thoughtful' and is trying to sound like a genius or some stuff. It's kinda sad.
I would say that anyone who is trying to sound smart and winds up posting this sort of stuff pretty mich fits the definition of "nutcase".

Hmmm..... nonstop tactical combat? Might be interesting, but a FAIR amount of work for the devs, making UI's if nothing else..... they'd probably want to charge $$$ for it.....

I'm not sure about the blind idea, but there should DEFINATELY be multiple prereqs for stuff: it REALLY helps with the linearity, and generally makes research more interesting.

Because the chicken got laid first... =P This is why math has been chosen as the universal language. Okay, there are a bunch of mathematicians and popular scientists who like to think maths is the universal language... okay, fine, i agree, 1 + 1 in any language is still 2, no matter how you dep
I don't see how a weak player could actually pull off an ascention victory.
Exactly. What I want from magic victory is a system where economics and conventional military strength don't matter so much as spellcasting ability. But, since we know NOTHING about how magic actually WORKS, I am not even sure if that is possible.
Frogboy posted June 30th: "The beta version should be ready in around 60 days. Hard to believe that we’re finally getting close after all this time. Players who pre-order it will get access to the betas and qualify to have access to the alpha version."
That's very nice, but I agree that they should fix up the homepage to match.
If I'm not mistaken doesn't GalCiv2 notify you that another race is doing that transcendency thing?
It does, but in GC2 ascendancy victory is completely different from Tdchnology victory. I suppose you have to research Hyperdrive to build constructors, but aside from that tech doesn't really make a difference as long as you can hold onto the crystals.

I for one would like to see it where you are seen to be casting the spell for everyone, and they all make a mad dash to your location to try and get you. However, you can still cast OTHER spells while doing it, to create a sort of Normandy Beach situation where people are rushing to get to you off of your mountain while they themesleves are being picked off..... although it might need some extra stuff I didn't think of to actually achieve that effect..... another good idea would be t
