I forgot about DS. I picked it up on sale on Amazon for Steam...I do mean to play it one day, even though I have heard the PC port isn't the best. In edit-I have all four of the oldschool X COM games. I've always heard that the first was the best and that the other three should be disregarded. Is that not true?
I saw the post about the upcoming release of the beta for Europa Universalis IV and how Matopicus, like me, has tried to play and like EU 3, but was unsuccessful. It got me wondering what was the most frustrating/difficult game that you have ever played and yet had fun with. For me, it would be flight sims; the one that comes readily to mind was Falcon 4.0 as well as the original Deus Ex. In addition, games that I know are hard to learn/play but I really want to
In the tactical menu, please include a 'countdown timer' for turn-limited effects that are cast on a unit-e.g. if a unit has been imprisoned, when you mouse over the initiative list and then click on the unit and you see it's attribute card, it would be nice if there were a countdown to the termination of the effect when you hovered over it. In the same vein, if there could be a turn-count until a skill or spell could be used again-e.g. a cooldown timer for

I have had LH claim well over one GB of memory while playing for some time (a few hours). It starts out low, typically a few hundred thousand KB, but it does climb. I have 12 GB of RAM, so that does not disturb my system (I frequently have about five GB of RAM taken up by programs), but I have had RAM usage by FE and LH in the GB range after a while and memory leak also came to mind.
Please do NOT remove Potential. There are no perks that depend on taking the Potential path; I do not understand why people feel like a choice has to be taken away because they cannot control their mouse clicks ('It is there, so I have to take it even though I don't want it or id doesn't make sense to me'). The decision to take it or not lies with you. You are not forced to take it by any sort of mechanic in the game. Potential adds another layer

[quote who="abob101" reply="3" id="3343455"] You must have built a Camp on the resource. Gracias Azunai_ and everyone else who took the time to reply. I see...towards the end of the game (as it stands now), I am frustrated by the fact that the AI crosses my border without seeking permission (which I would grant, had they asked) but if I am standing near their territory during one turn, and they expand in the next, I am asked rudely to leave...that is when I pick up my big stick :). On my next play through, I will focus on getting to t
[quote who="Azunai_" reply="7" id="3343893"] i never got a diplo victory that wasn't actually a shortcut domination - you can usually form alliances with a handful of factions, but i think there's a mechanic that blocks alliances with opposing ideologies - once you ally a kingdom, alliances with empires seem impossible (and vice versa). in my diplo victories, i usually had several allied factions and killed off everyone who wouldn't sign the alliance treaty.
So in essence, what people are saying is that a peaceful victory is impossible? I would prefer a "walk softly and carry a big stick" diplomatic policy. It is unfortunate that this victory type doesn't seem possible (or at least readily obvious).
What I had to do to get the 0.75 update was to completely exit from Steam and then restart it. For the 0.8 update, it started as soon as I quit LH. I hope that helps.
