Basically, influence is a hidden stat. It increases at a constant rate and is capped by housing level/population. At level 1, you get two increases (Radius 1, Radius 2). Generally, you get an influence increase the turn after a level up and about mid-way through though there may be other increases at higher levels. What influence buildings do is generate their own bubble of influence and probably affects the influence stat in some fashion. As it's a hidden stat, w

Concern one is that starting locations are getting kinda full what with the gold in .8 and now shards. Secondly, whats the point of imbuing champions if your main dude has unlimited range and can effect battles he is not in? Will imbued champions start using the intelligence of the sovereign as well? Can you unimbue someone? <b

One of the recent patches put back in territory bonuses. You get a 25% bonus or penalty for being in friendly or hostile ground - this is mostly across be board to attack and defense. Stack this with a few armor pieces, you can be pretty good. Though that early, it's likely to avoid making the AI -too- easy to conquer as it's not like - spells currently not withstanding - the AI has a lot of options and smarts to tough it out.

The trade in the kingdom report is from treaties and such. Caravan bonuses don't show up there. As for the bonus... it can be substantial. I've reached over 100% bonus on a single caravan which, on a city of a lot of base food production, is enough to sustain itself and then some. Note that the bonus applies to both ends so if you have two cities producing food and connect them, you would get the bonus applied to both cities. As well, a city can have more than one carav

Will the GMP allow Sovereigns to cast spells in a tactical battle that they are not involved in? Will the Sovereigns be omnipotent in their own realms of influence when it comes to spellcasting, (i.e. will city enchantments require the Sovereign to be in range)? Will the Sovereigns be able to target tiles and cities outside their real

Speculation on such sparse information is prone to get forum goers in a hissy fit over false information they believe is true. :) And one of the things is that it's hard to make any sort of opinion without that information. We can speculate but that tells us nothing and offers Stardock nothing. We know mana is becoming a resource so that it accumulates. But what are the costs going to be? Are there other mechanics to help mitigate costs? We don't know so sayin

Without more details on the specifics, it's hard to say as that's only one part of a bigger system. There are likely many other changes being made to support the new mechanic. Really can't tell what an elephant is from just it's trunk.

So basically what you're saying is that Stardock needs to hire a full time dedicated community manager to handle community 'stuff' like gathering feedback, keeping morale up, and otherwise engaging the community/engaging the developers and acting as a liaison as opposed to pulling Frogboy away for four hours to read forums (or worse, burning himself out by doing it from home) versus doing his AI (and manager) magic. :)

Basically, you want Stardock to build a mini-MMO style game similar to Tales of the Desert crossed with NWN, or at least, support such an architecture. I don't see that happening any time soon. Not that it isn't an interesting idea but it's well beyond the scope of where the game is to be heading; you're basically asking for a completely different style of game.

It's basically game theory's dominant strategy. There are a few different factors into whether something is a DS. The DS must always be the best choice either by maximizing benefit or minimizing harm. The DS must always be the best choice regardless of the choice the opponent makes - that is, no matter what choice the opponent makes, the DS is in a better position. Basically, the DS eliminates choice. You're always better off using the DS and the

Reply to On AI in War of Magic

What we need is for it to figure out "I have X, they have Y. Using X does P damage. To use X, I can do Z. Doing Z puts me in A amount of danger." and weigh different possible Zs with the intent to minimize A while maximizing A. Among many other things. The more we can let the AI work on general information and not specifics, the more adaptable it can be.

[quote who="Kalin" reply="1" id="2775898"] It needs some system like: Each mod go into a separate folder within the Mod directory, and comes with a config file. The config file has basic stuff like version compatibility and a basic description on what that mod does. The game then scans all the config files and shows the available mods on a new mod screen, where we can select which mod to turn on or off. I don't really like having to restart to load a mod, but I can bare it. &nbsp
