I've missed the faction/kingdom/empire/whatever creator in the beta ever since it was removed. I'm also not happy with the sovereign editor as it is now because I can't my sovereign as powerful as the premade ones. At least I can't duplicate Lord Markinn, not enough points. But I guess that will fixed/balanced by release so I'm not really worried about it.
Everyone's favorite sorceress (Procipinee) is also too powerful compared to th
Try pressing the fn (function) key while pressing + or -. That seems to have worked for some people.
Not doing it. I've got an honest-to-god number pad, but when I hit the + or - on it, either with or without fn, it doesn't resize the brush. I know I'm on the latest version since I can do tactical battles. EDIT: Oh, and it doesn't work with the keys in the number row either.
Am I missing something here? I copy-pasted the XML code (removing the line numbers/# signs) and saved the file as "LA_MapSizes.xml". I put it into My Games\Elemental\Units, and have "Use mods" checked in the Options menu. Yet when I go to the map editor, only the standard sizes appear--this one doesn't. Are there any other settings I have to mess around with?
When the modding becomes more fleshed out, are we going to have a list of all built-in parameters and what they signify? And will it be possible to define additional parameters? For example, would it be possible to decree that each faction should have a hat style and add in to everything?
You can also purchase wargs in the store, even if you're a Kingdom. This leads to some amusing scenes...
I have this bug as well. Also, on the subject of archers, why do longbows appear to have a range of only 1 square? I can't speak for shortbows, but when my archers try to attack they can only shoot things right next to them. Kind of defeats the point of archers, IMO...
I've also been quite annoyed by the relative uselessness of my sovereign and entourage in the late game. Sure, the sov gets more moves than a standard troop, but deals pitiful damage in comparison and will die if anything so much as looks at them. Yes, the sovereign gets better magic, but what if you want to focus on martial prowess instead of magic? Personally, I'd get a kick out of being able to have a sov who can't cast that well but can wade into the midst of enemies and
For one thing, I can't see how the comp determines the perceived value of alliances and ceasefires. Some nations seem willing to pay me absurd amounts to have the, while others insist I pay them, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with my diplomatic capital and only a marginal amount to do with my power rating. Secondly, can we have alliances include ceasefires in them? It seems a bit odd when my ally-since-turn-50, whose lands are honeycombed with r
I agree completely with this. Please either give us production rates or the ability to scroll around the map and figure out which city we're actually dealing with. I also quite like the delayed idea--putting it off will allow you to specialize more late-game at the expense of early production.
"Cheap job," said the intellectual. "Well below the rate. Should be half the kingdom and his daughter's hand in marriage." --Terry Pratchett, Guards! Guards! Something I would like to see would be the ability to marry off my children to my recruited champions. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be possible--after all, your sovereign's spouse is going to be a recruited champion, and it would add in the ability to "reward" particularly lo
I'm not sure what, but something in this save causes the game to oom without me doing anything except going forth and conquesting the hell out of Magnar. I oom'ed earlier, then reloaded from a point about five or six turns before this and it oom'ed again. Unfortunately, I can't be sure of much more than that. Hope this helps. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9606798/Rob%203.EleSav
I had the exact same problem as Ichirou, and I also solved it by reloading. Even then, though, the city's invisible. Save file can be found here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9606798/Vanishing%20Sov.EleSav
Would it be too much to ask to have a slider in-editor to change brush size? If there is one, I can't find it, and I can't figure out how to change it at all. I hear + and - are supposed to do it, but they don't do anything when I hit them on either my number pad or in the number row. I'm on an HP laptop, in case that makes any difference.
Debug file available here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9606798/debug.err Sometimes, when I quit the game, it crashes. This doesn't present a problem, as such, but it's still darn weird.
I get this same problem. I'm attaching a save in which it occurs. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9606798/Rob%202.EleSav
Are you sure you didn't just turn on auto-explore by accident? It's a button in the lower-left, on the left edge of the action pane. If it has a red circle-and-slash across it, it's on. I thought I had a problem like this, but it was just auto-explore being on.
These thread are popping up like mushrooms, it seems. Something I'd like to mention now is that I'm new to the beta: I only joined it a few days ago, hoping to see the modding beta. I therefore don't know if some of these points have been raised before, and I apologize if they have. As for my background with this sort of thing, I've played GalCiv2 quite a lot, D&D 3.5 more, and have modded StarCraft more than I've done either, so I flatter myself that I know how
I hope this picture explains itself somewhat. This has happened several times: when I command a party of ranged units (haven't tried it with single ones) to attack a target, some of them will end up facing completely the wrong direction. Their arrows still fly true, but they archers themselves are disoriented. The smaller red circles are the arrows.&n
Unfortunately, I didn't save the debug file, but I had an out-of-memory freeze. No CTD, but it simply froze when I tried to get a goody hut. I'd been playing for several hours straight, 3-person large map. This computer has dual 2.4 GHz Intel Core P860 processors and 6 GB RAM, although it is a laptop.
I've had this same issue, although it seems to randomly replace names of cities with names of any other cities on the map, including my own. It doesn't crash the game, and when I reloaded, it was fixed, but then it scrambled again at some point. When I build a structure at the city, it sometimes seems to fix this, but not always.
Just joined the beta, and I'm having this same problem with the opening. I don't experience any of the other bugs mentioned, however--just that the opening is a yellow bar with stuttery sound. When I won a game (incidentally, I'm not sure how it happened, since I never even saw the comp, but that's a different story,) I got a similarly yellow block with similarly stuttery sound. I'm using a laptop running 64-bit Vista Home Premium. My graphics card is
