I have been playing some Hero vs. Creature battles for about three hours now. I have to say that I like what I see. Leather armor is working very well against low level creatures, but still allows some damage to get through, as I assume you intended. Staves and daggers are well balanced and I have to say all the "equipment" tech is very well priced compared to its game function. I face roughly 2 enemy groups per turn and have two very well equipped armies of heroes and low level soldiers. I w

I am playing a custom map with a lot of creatures I added manually to really fill the world with enemies. The problem is that I am getting upwards of 1000 gildar from every battel againts Brigand and the human robber mob I love so much. Here is a pic of what I am dealing with: http://screencast.com/t/WP1uAvhVcP9u (keep in mind that this loot goes one for three or four columns and it also gives rings) I have mor
I just realized the unit creator for my own units may be used to create a unit and his or her icon, which is sent to the user directory where it can be added to a file to become an enemy unit grouped with other enemy units. This could potentially be used to make a proper creature editor that includes stat building and equipment selection. Until then I am goin to use it to create the encounters I need for quest making. I can even design their faces with scars and angry dispositions. [e digicon
Looking into the future, one sees an entertainment system based on internet or app based comerce. It seems that collapsing p2p filesharing is an investment in future comerce and a pretty good investment at that. I pay 120 US dollars for a TV to not play anything good, why the hell shouldn't I quit that and buy Hulu+? At least then i can watch crap TV when I want. [e digicons]>:([/e]
In all seriousness I have put all my quests on hold until someone makes a decent quest editor. The option would be a creature editor that allowed us to both position them on the tac map and create entire armies or single units as we see fit.
Wait and see. I think roads and caravans are taking a more transportative role in the coming beta. I never used them anyway since the only map I play on has so much forest and creature features. I will still want to mod roads to only need 5 trips per upgrade. [e digicons]:)[/e]
Any chance that an "ignore Normal Weapons" spell is being considered? Lycanthropy is a very underrated talent. [e digicons]:hugme:[/e] Also, you guys are doing very well at anticipating needs, such as spell thwarting, it is already apparent how much more organized and clear things must be on the dev side of things.
I am reporting this before the release just so we all understand and can fix it. The insta-train spell is way overpowered in the late game scenarios i have been running in my head. Think about the best company of heavily armored claymore toting SOBs being trained in 1 turn as opposed to 135. Is that really what we want? Why would I use magic for anything else? Which one of you rascals slipped that in? [e digicons]*_*[/e]
As soon as 1.1 comes out we will certainly get alot of modders going through the inde of game functions to create new spells I am sure. I get out of school by the 20th and can promise at least ten new spells I have been planning that could fit into maybe three of the books. I think it would be good to have some of the trusty modders work together on a spell expansion once we see the content in 1.1. Once we have the new version of all the xmls I can start preaching the good news of the gospel
Just to chime in about people's concern about the dexterity issue, I see it as something that should certainly be there as a mechanic, but it shouldn't be something one seeks to level to a significant amount. The fact that it is more useful to use level points for other stats merely lends to the possibility of dex being gained from items, spells, armor, and natural abilities. There is also some very good potential for having heavy armor actually reduce this stat to conform to the realiti
modding core files is fine as long as you save a backup before you update. Please tell me you know this. [e digicons][/e]
But it is added. That is all they really said...
Yes, can you show us the pattern of male baldness. [e digicons][/e] I just wanted to know if you have thought about adding in dodge, dare, and assassinate to your custom screen. It would save me the trouble.
I save gold to get buildings bought without waiting the ridiculous build times. How long does it take to buld a wall? 1000 years!?! [e digicons][/e]
I don't understand. Just buy a health pack for heroes, 5hp/turn in the wild and +10 overall. Then research "Triage" from the civic tree to get the Healer's guild and all your level 3 cities can build a healer's temple, which gives +25hp/turn. Why have you not done this? [e digicons]:'([/e]
The last couple of good C&C games had good cutscenes. Tiberian Sun was a masterpiece of storytelling. C&C 3 didn't do bad either. I guess I am still in shock over the 4th one... god damn you to hell foul EA!
I like the idea that heroes can be used as tanks or spanks depending on level pathing. You shouldn't need a regular army if you don't want one. This is my opinion and I have changed the game to match it.
I have been trying to add the unlock range ability to the axe. Everything animation wise is fine, but the range seems to be locked at one tile away. Anyone delt with this before? I feel that the axe is very useless with the way I have weapons set up without this extra perk. Any help would earn mondo karma.
You are correct. This is why I have modded the prices of equpment, unit levelup, and gold distribution. My games now play balanced and serene. I always play on ridiculous so that the AI can at least get some good soldiers from their unfair bonuses. Creatures are esy once you can afford heroes that can fight with reasonably priced weapons. Five well equipped heroes should have no trouble taking down any level 1-3 creature. Above that I need magic. All of this is well and good for me, but it le
I just read through the city hub file and realized we can have unique items unlocked by a specific type of settelment. So I am thinking I will make a merchant that sells special weapons and armor. The tile will look like a small fortified town. The prices will be high. It will be an alternate option to researching the warfare tree if you are like me and prefer to just go for heroes and civics. The catch is that the town will be very hard to capture, but your enemy can take it or you can for t
To get better heroes you don't need to change the number of level up points. You need only change how much they get from each point. The unitstats file in english is where you should go. The individual stats can be changed to upgradable and the number of points given is changable. This is how I fixed the whole glass cannons issue. I also added the dodge and daring and assasination features as a leveling attribute. Remember that 100 = 10% in the world of elemental. [e digicons];)[/e]
My version os so enlightened that it discarded these types of definitions. It doesn't even have weapons.
Stat chnages: I have been extensively testing tac battles to get a feel for how much stats and skills heroes and regulars should have. I set the leveling system to give very gig rewards as a stopgap measure against Stardock hero gimping. The result was that a hero could get 10hp per level or 3 strength or 3 dexterity or 3 essence or 5% to dodge, assassin, or daring, or 4 to vision, or 1 move point in tac or strat map, or 2 mana per turn (which is currently a broken feature) or 3 intel
I remember in GC2 when I realized that I could rename a ship U.S.S. Enterprise. It changed the way I played that game. Suddenly I felt as if I and Kirk and Picard were together in a struggle against the evil Bug Lord and his Mistress Queen Aracnia. If Captan Proton had been there we might not have lost so badly. It was after losing two major fleets full of copyrighted ships that I realized I could rename fleets the same way. It really took the game to a whole new level. Now I was grouping 50+
