Wow. The Javelis LRM Frigate is good against everything. Cheap in terms of cash and resources, only 4 supply points, a Cluster Warheads ability for splash attacks, and potential for nice big damage and range extension research. Kind of justifies LRM-rush. Another odd revelation is that ALL bomber squads are better against the Garda Flak Frigate than the Garda Flak is against them! The Defense Vessel has more raw firepower and the Junsurak Sentinel has Charged Phase Missiles, but the Gar
do all ships have the same rate of fire? will a ship with 10 dmg automatically out DPS a ship with 9?
Absolutely not. All ships have different rates of fire, which may be affected by technologies and abilites as well. Capital ships even have different fire rates for their different weapons. Only strikecraft have the same fire rate - 12 seconds for all fighters, and 13.5 seconds for all bombers.
The Mothership is often touted as the best of the three "colony" capitals, incidentally, both for its shield regen and for its Malice ability. While the Vasari equivalent, the Jarrasul 'Space Whale' Evacuator also has some nice abilities(Drain Planet, Gravity Warhead, Nano Disassembler), it isn't as important to the Vasari as the Mothership is
How would any of you vasari experts deal with someone rushing straight to kodiaks? Don't get me wrong, I wish more people would realise tech levels = number of labs not the amount of research. But I am curious how you build a bigger economy and match them to rush to enforcers. I was able to claw my way to Transporters easily enough but I could never seem to put together enough bombers to deal with a mid/early 20+ upgraded kodiaks at a time. I am able to match TEC people, sort of, in s
And of course EMP will be great too. Although I never use it, have to get into the habit.
The Dunovs abilities are perfect for anti-Advent. EMP Burst brings down enemy shields and antimatter to an extent and Magnetize temporarily makes the target ship attract strikecraft and collide with it - great for a 1-2 punch against the 3 things Advent focuses on: antimatter, shields, and paper-plane strikecraft.
However, this takes time. And in that time the strike craft is killing off your frigates.
Er... the fighters will be engaged in suicidal combat against my fighters, and after they pop, the bombers go down as well. If flak is present, this process is accelerated. Even while the bombers are still alive, they won't be able to do much damage to frigates or support cruisers. Bombers use AntiVeryHeavy weapons, which do 50% damage against Light(Assailant), Medium(Skirmi
Raider xenophobia: Reducing the pirate fleet results in less exp for the capital ships to feed on.
What makes Advent strike craft really cool is the Guardians push ability. With that it is possible to keep any non-strike-craft the enemy wants to throw at you away from your carriers! So you got the second best strike craft but immortal carriers. Vasari carriers usually die fast to light frigates chasing them down. To kill the Advent carriers one would have to take down the pushing Guardians first, which takes time and gives the carrier fleet an opportunity to kill off half a dozen s
Any faction can spam carriers - considering all the light carriers use up 8 supply no matter what and that every faction gets access to a capital ship carrier for 50 supply, there's really not a CLEARLY superior faction for lots of carriers. For what it's worth, though, I'd recommend Advent for the early game and Vasari for late-game carrier actions. Advent get access to earlier carriers and large swarms of fighters/bombers. They all do less damage individually than other fighter options f

Read the TEC lore to find the reason behind these 'neutral' forces. Before the Vasari arrived 10 years ago, these worlds were all inhabited by humans under the Trade Order. After seeing the Vasari massacre the perimeter worlds with only their scouts and their space-whales, these planets(each having an autonomous government like countries on Earth) fitted civilian spaceships with whatever weaponry they had(anti-pirate stuff) and tried to stop the Vasari but their forces of course got swa
Vasari use Beams, which is wierd since Advent are obviously the Beam Weaponry Masters. It looks like they ran out of time to think of a 3rd variant of bombardement.
TEC are the Autocannon masters in space battles, though they have experimented and achieved results with Missiles as well. Lasers are their because they're cheap and simple, if not very strong. They use nukes for planetary bombardment because they're cheap and they get the job done, which is all they want. Ant

Hmmm.... the Skirantra Carrier maxes out at 6 squadrons but the Halcyon and Sova can go up to 7?!!! WTF. Well, I guess it makes up for the fact that Vasari strikecraft can repair themselves so much faster without even using the Repair Cloud, but that fact is also made up for with the Skirantra and Lasurak both having less antimatter than their equivalents. But the Kol is more durable, and has more weaponry in all it's banks, which make it better against frigates and cruisers. The Marza is missile based, so it goes best with LRMs and Bombers, while the Kol is autocannon based, so it goes best with Cobalts, Kodiaks, Fighter

If I wanted to mass one large fleet and let it patrol the entire empire, how would I mobiliz
That is, before you counter, you have to scout and know what your opponent is up to. I believe that this is impractical in a competitive, high pressure RTS. You don't have time to do effective scouting, what you must do is have an initial plan that you start executing as quickly as possible as soon as the game begins (for instance, drop 1 weapons lab, research assailants, and start pumping them ASAP).
Or you could send your scout to his homeworld(by microing it of course)

I believe spams can be countered by research. Fish out all the stats on the spammed unit, fish out all the stats on your viable counters, do the calculations and come up with a micro procedure to efficiently destroy your opponent in as little time and as little resources as you can manage. For example, crunching the numbers for Advent Aeria Drone Hosts vs. TEC Javelis LRM Frigates, taking Armor Types, Shields, Shield Mitigation, Shield Regeneration, Armor, Hitpoints and Hull Repair all

The Vasari have technologies that allow them to gain resources from destroying enemy capital ships. When an enemy capital ship explodes, your capital ships collect the wreckage and debris and process it into raw resources for you to use. These are the 'other sources'. AFAIK, the TEC and Advent have no such capabilities.
