The main thing is that pay as you go allows you to set up your entire bloody army from the start and get it as you can afford it without having to go back and click the stuff in every few minutes. Unfortunately, it does have drawbacks, managing resources is simple when you're using it as soon as you click the stuff in, it's a little harder when you're getting it as it builds. It's not as visually apparent how broke you are when you're finished buying things. Unlike a standard rts, whe

Traveling at normal speed to other wells is not an option... There is no surprise in having a sizable portion of your fleet in transit for hours. You start your move, and the game ends some time between then and when it arrives at your target... If they were really close together, maybe you'd last long enough for it to get to the target before you died, but it can literally be hours to travel the distances. It's not a surprise attack, it's a necromancer raising your rotting corpse to strike

We also only have one multiplayer setting, flagships on. It would be a vastly different game without a flagship, no early dominance, slow expansion through the pirates, actual casualties in doing so. You might have a capital ship out by the time you met your opponent on a small map, but it would be a free kill against a dozen cobalts instead of walking all over them with the shields still up at level 4. Right now you're more varied by flagship choice than map composition often. The g

The sova's dps isn't dependent on being directly under fire. You can sit at the edge of a gravity well, stack a couple missile platforms before they even get to you, and kill a few frigates on the way over. Up against a kol, they aren't that much weaker head to head either, a marza would clean up pretty good on them, but they have issues with target aquisition and are the most vulnerable against frigates. DPS is nice, but the kol is getting pounded by bombers on the way over, and gets to play

Whoever you attacked wasn't managing his akkan very well. A level 6 akkan is only useful if you use the armistice in a strategic manner to avoid such things as capital ship losses. The level 2 and 3 ships weren't of any real value by comparison. A level 6 dunov with flux field would have had near infinite shield restores, a level 6 marza would have single handedly killed all your frigates even if all by itself. It's a serious investment to drop a level 6 capital ship. Last night I l

I can't tell if it hung up or was just taking forever. Everyone showed as disconnected, not even sure if there was anyone migrating with it. It's a rather uninformative process. Edit: Everyone did disconnect, which begs the question, why so long to migrate no one?

We listen to everything our forum posters say. There is no need for outwardly offensive titles and exaggerations to get our attention. There are new people to the forums everyday. Even with the smiley, what impression do you think they get of the game when this is the first thing they read? Well, I kinda figured they'd read. Of course, even before you changed the title the topic was ignored in favor

It amounts to an assassination game, kill the flagship, win. With how fast a flagship drops, that can mean a few seconds of not paying attention, it's rather irritating. Having the assassination victory condition in would be a nice method of shortening the end, there isn't any other likely alternative. I finally lost a game today, it was over in two skirmishes. I jumped my sova, went to go build something, and that was it. I jumped right into a pack of lrms and by the time I noticed my shields w

They don't wait for fighters to dock before jumping. If you pay close attention, there is usually a ship "stuck" trying to get into position. It happens frequently with capital ships in a fleet. I've been switching to single after they are already grouped and about ready, there's usually one or two laggers in a large fleet that jump shortly behind.

It's suicide, they run in and engage the static defenses before killing the ships that run to engage them, and they engage the wrong ones. Ship to ship isn't intolerable though, I usually just set mine on hold position till the enemy fleets are gone, move a kol forward for a meat shield, and set them to gravity well.

It was a multiplayer game, I was the host of our little blood bath. I should have the saves in there. I'll look through them and find where I need to send the save in. Edit, sent the replay with time of incident mentioned and nearest two saves.

You know, you can dismantle and replace research labs after you've finished researching what you want from one side of the tree. Even on a map with four planets you could get to refinery and still advance through the military techs to area effect missiles and command cruisers. Just get the basics out, build your five research stations, pop out the stuff, blow them up and replace them with more military labs. You'd end the game long before you got the research done unless you were both incompe

Aside from a galciv2 weapon and shield system, which was the low point of the game, what would be the point in more diversified weapons upgrades when ships already fill diversified roles? It strikes me as a fairly limited system when it comes to counters, flak frigates are easier to get than the carriers they neutralize, so it comes down to army composition before research. It would be nice to have more research, you'd be able to research and build flak frigates from a shipyard while under att

Fighters in sins are most likely using rail gun equivalent projectile speeds, hitting anything so small with projectile weaponry is going to require much faster velocity than modern projectile weaponry can achieve. A rail gun firing a small chunk of aluminum would make a very large hole through any armor we can make. Not only would it make a hole, but the super heated plasma would vaporize said armor on contact and burn everyone to death inside the target. We're in space so it wont be so mess

The zoom, how it tasks me... I'm sure someone likes it, it's probably even useful and a good idea, but that hybrid zoom to cursor and follow thing is... demonic? It makes me want to kill small children, or puppies. Three options, the third being pure zoom to cursor with no annoying frills, would be outstanding.

That just aggravates the problem, it's not the entirety. The offensive abilities suck. Designate target not to much if it selects a good target, if it selects a not so good target, say retargets your fleet off the dunov and onto the boosted shield kol it's restoring, you're boned. The robotics cruiser is just plain bad, running around blowing buildings up is not a good thing for a repair cruiser. They come with a hefty price tag, and they are less than half as effective after you research th

He's suggesting fields of research that you can pick to specialize your ships. In his example for carriers, he suggested a branched research into either more powerful carriers that could be researched into more of a mainline battle ship role with weapons or larger hanger bays for more fighter support, or a lighter carrier that's cheaper to deploy and stays in a support role. He also suggested weapon specialization based on resource availability. Nothing else made much sense, something about l

Yes, hoshiko and cielo cruisers are boned by their researched abilities. This is particularly the case since offensive abilities cause ships to run around finding targets even when told to hold ground. I skip researching them too as a result. I've been building large mixed frigate fleets with four command cruisers and eight repair cruisers with a single kol for an attractive target. They are nearly invincible against the ai in this format. I jump them in on hold with all abilities
