Terran isn't any more overpowered than anything else. Everyone is just playing it because it's the campaign race and all the new people are most familiar with it (and by extension, suck with Protoss and Zerg). As for the placement, it's skewed because of so many new players (SC2 sold 1.5 milllion copies in 48 hours). I haven't actually done my qualifiers yet (will this weekend) because I'm waiting for the ladders to stabilize at least a little bit. As for the clan, don't need anything
Raw sandbox is no place for carry-over advantages.
This doesn't make sense. There's no reason not to. Just because it's never been done before doesn't mean it's "no place" for it. I'd love to play sandbox with achievement bonuses.
The system makes no sense in a sandbox. The whole point of a sandbox game is that starting it is hitting the global reset button from the last game. Carrying bonuses in doesn't do that at all.
Not for me. A game
I'm not a fan of it either for a game like Elemental. When you've got a sandbox game and each new map is starting fresh, why would I start with 10% more whatever then everybody else because in the last game I happened to kill 47 summoned units with cavalry under a full moon? The game should be getting easier because I'm getting better at it, not because I've played enough that my achievement bonuses give me a big advantage over the computer.
10% is not a "big advantage"

Good catch on Games for Windows. I actually expect that it's going to be. Apparently, getting that title gives you better shelf space at retail, which Stardock definitely wants - I remember the discussion came up on why Sins went for the GFW cert.
Over-all though I was trying to set a tone that all of us could be mature about the issue.
By using a bunch of all caps, telling Bara to "fix the damn thing", and attempt to belittle other people's issues with color scheme? If you'd actually read the thread, most of the complaints weren't about "personal taste" in colors, it was about the physical side effects of eye strain and reading dark on dark, which you plainly labeled irrelevant. I don't really th

Depending on how the quest system ends up (it's kinda simple right now but they're redoing quests for launch so maybe they'll come up with more fun stuff), I might be interested hopping on board as a quest guy. Unless of course rather than a campaign you're thinking of making it mostly a sandbox without quests :P
I'd be HAPPY TO but I CAN'T MAKE A NEW THREAD. And...I'm Not being an ass...nice to see that maturity shining through there Anna...
Look at your own posts for maturity content. You get what you deserve ;) Funny, I remember you agreeing with me on that in another thread..
Man, you guys are killing me. Who gives a shit about the color when most of us (using IE 7 & 8 ) CAN'T MAKE NEW POSTS. The colors are IRRELEVANT when posting functionality is Screwed!!!
So don't be an ass and go make a new thread. This is a thread about the color scheme, it says so in the topic. If you have a problem with posting, go make a new thread and stop trolling this one.
No no no no no.

NEVER should an achievement change any portion of how the game is played, or how strong/weak your position is.
Why not? It's worked in ME quite well. Sure ME is a different game from Elemental, but neither of you actually said why it wouldn't work.

The best fix is to take the yellowish color that's used on the Karma number, User name, Forum categories, etc and use that for post text, and use a very very light gray for the stuff yellow is used for now. The yellow is much easier to read posts with.

You'll be able to do a translation as a mod. There's no single file for strings, though, so you'd basically have to go through each XML and change all the name/description fields for everything.
Nice! I wonder if it's possible to make a faction who's units are all the monsters in the game. Hmm.... Or perhaps a faction that has no human troops, but the sovereign has to summon all the troops.
You most certainly could. Equipping them might be tricky, but I suppose you could make up various monster items - though it won't modify their appearance :P

There needs to be more contrast between the background and post text as well. Gray on black is not good contrast.

He's talking about the Elemental boards. And I agree. Dark gray text on pure black background is not the best on the eyes.
If I want to play every single game the exact same way, I shouldn't be punished for that
Well, with well designed achievements it would end up that by playing the game that exact same way would give you bonuses to that way of playing. The only "punishment" there is that you won't have bonuses geared towards the other play styles that you don't care about anyway. The bonuses have to relate to what you do to get it, then as you play more and more you get improvem

Didn't they do the very famous X3 "Kha'ak" review? (say the word quick and think dirty, they did :P). Then you can go and youtube it.
