You might want to consider getting a TSA approved "Checkpoint Friendly" laptop bag. That way you won't have to take out the laptop and turn it on...you just unzip the bag, open it flat on the conveyer belt, and they can see the laptop and scan it. LINK

Upgrading the RAM and the SSD is very easy. Dell made those two quite accessible...just unscrew two screws and remove the panel, and those two components are right there. I too am looking forward to Island Dog's discussions on netbooks. :)

Dell Mini 9 here as well. When I got it initially it had 1 gb RAM, 16 gb SSD, running XP SP3. I immediately installed WB and Object Dock, and had no problems running either. I have since upped the RAM to 2 gb, SSD to a Runcore 32 gb, and installed Vista. I have Object Dock running, but haven't put WB on yet. I don't really feel the need for other customization apps right now, but since Stardock offers so many cool utilities, I'll consider it in the near future. [e digicons]:thumbsup:[/e]

I have a Mini 9 as well, and have the same problem with WB config window...but I figured out a workaround for that. I don't have My Colors, so I don't know what the screen looks like. If the button is not far below the taskbar, you can try autohide the taskbar, then drag the window as far up as possible. I know it's frustrating...hope you're able to find a solution!

Congratulations on getting a netbook! I recall you asking/posting about them in the past. Still have my Dell Mini 9 and have really enjoyed it. I have done some upgrades to mine...upgraded to 2 gb RAM, and recently swapped out the 16 gb SSD drive to a fast 32 gb SSD, and just installed Vista Home Premium (stripped down). Vista runs great, as well as Aero....actually seems a bit snappier than with XP. Now I'll just need to install Object Dock Plus. [e digicons]:thumbsup:[/e]

That is Windows XP Home, came installed on the Mini. I'm running Windowblinds, OpusOS , by Snidely Whiplash. For the Mini 9, there are currently two choices of OS...Linux Ubuntu 8.04 or Windows XP Home. Dell just launched the Mini 12, with a 12.1" screen...but be forewarned, the 12's RAM is not upgradable beyond 1 GB (it's integrated), and the drive is not an SSD but a standard hard drive (slow at 4200 rpm).&

I've had my Mini 9 for about 3 weeks now, and am very happy and impressed with it. I was a little concerned about the 16 GB SSD, but after cleaning out some of the pre-installed bloat, I have most of my can't-live-without programs installed (including WB and ODock) with a lot of space remaining...plus I have a 16 GB SDHC which I leave in the SD slot for additional storage.
