In FE Champions can be the source of spells, so why not a champion with a unique focus: Spiders. The spider enchantress is a master of training, breeding and controlling giant spiders. She is a master of spider magic. Recruit the Spider Enchantress and you can; 1. Research spider riding and have your units ride into battle on giant spiders 2. Gain access to spider themed spells Summon Giant Spider Cast Web on your opposing unit to fre

I like of idea of the spell knowledge being linked to Champions that you recruit. It really increases the importance of recruiting champions - and opens up the door to creating more unique champions. I may try my hand at modding a Fallen Spider Enchantress Champion skilled in the use of spider magic, once the beta ships (I.e. a champion that knows a few unique spells related to spider magic: Summon Giant Spider, Web (to ensare the enemy), Spider Swarm to reduce ini

"(1) Its researching isn’t very good. This is a known issue that is due to the AITraits not being hooked up yet. This means its armies aren’t as big as they could be." I wonder how the AI is going to decide between going for quick advances vs more expensive longer term advances such as worg riding and whether each AI will have a tendency to make the same choice. How will it decide between civil, military and magic research and will it ever decide to favor magic a
You have it backwards. Scripting results in the same strategy. The AI will play each game differently because the data of each map is different.
Interesting take. I look forward to seeing how the AI works in the beta. My fear was that without some scripting that you would not see; for example, one of the AI's use the the Sherman's March to the Sea Strategy - where the AI builds a large army, cap

Often times, gameplay exploits are found by the AI before players ever learn of them.
I will be looking forward to seeing the XML code for this. When I played WOM I would always go for a co-ordinated production/research strategy to secure victory - be it archer focused, melee focused, champions with magic w
Having lots of different treaties in the game will give players an incentive to be on good terms with other players as well as allow other players to effectively gang up on whoever they consider a huge threat.
Perhaps, an intelligence sharing treaty? So that my sovereign sees enemy units spotted by a friendly sovereign? Perhaps, gaining the services of an allied champion for x months (turns)? Historically, if an army commander/king dies untrained levies tended to break and run. If a sovereign falls in battle will his troops be affected? Will they panic, will they run, will their combat strength be affected or will their initiative be impaired for the duration of the battle?

Thanks for the update. 2 Questions: Question - Is there a single AI or will AI players have a chance to use a different AI each game? I.e. AI 1 and AI 2 use the standard melee focused AI, while AI 3 is guided by a magic focused AI in game two. In game 2; AI 1 follows a mount strategy AI while AI 2 and AI 3 use the standard melee AI. Question - Will the player be able to design new fraction (Sovereign) specific AIs?

Will there be an option to select the AI routine that a custom sovereign uses? Example: If I create custom Soveregin called Lloth, will I be able to link this fraction to specific strategic AI routine? - i.e. a magic focused AI that is used when this sovereign is an AI opponent.

1. I like the idea of reasearch unlocking access to more spell(s). (see the rituals technology description example above). 2. I really, really like the idea of some technologly advancements such as worg riding taking a really long time to research. Its gives the player a nice trade-off: Do I research the Worg Riding that takes 4x longer to research than Archery. Can I survive until I unlock Worg Riding? 3. My key questions are: Will each AI player

I would like to see a chance for an Empire Sovereign to have an evil AI that executes a scorched earth campaign of total war. What is an Evil AI? Its an evil dedicated to pillaging, plunder and destruction. This AI learns magic to drain the land of life and lives to ensalve and erradicate the people of the kingdoms. Kingdom cities and outposts that it captures are likely to be razed to the ground and its residents enslaved. Unlike the standard AI the Evil AI foc

Will any of the AI's be totally evil? I mean really evil - An evil Wraith Empire AI burning, pillaging and razing captured Kingdom cities? Hunting down and slaying Kingdom champions before they can be recruited. Evil AI that uses magic to inflict blight upon the lands of my kingdom. In WOM I never faced an AI fraction that was truely evil. I am not asking for all Empire AI fractions to be really evil - just a chance for one of the Empire fracti

Nice, really nice. Reminds me of the critical injury cards in Pathfinder RPG. I can imagine: Severe Burn from magic use misfire reduces charisma Cowardly reputation for fleeing the battle reduces charisma What happens if you lose two ears? Can you lose three ears? If the sovereign is killed in battle does his army surrender or suffer a morale related penalty? Will untrained units lose spirit and flee the battlefield?

I did not notice a stat for charisma in the sovereign's screenshot. Do sovereign's have a charisma rating (and this screen is a work in progress)?

What I really like is that with each game you can encounter different wildland(s). This really ups the replayability factor. I do hope though, that each wildlands has a different tactical AI strategy so that each wildland's campaign gives the player a vastly different tactical battle experience.

I wonder, will there be a quest or a diplomacy event that triggers a wildland(s) army to issue forth to to attack and destroy (they don't conquer, they destroy) settlements that are too close to them? An event that rarely happens, but when it does bewarned for the army/horde coming forth will be strong and hard to defeat as its minions are strong and its magic powerful. I agree with Sir_Linque about AI personalities and quests. Some AI's might go after only high reward quests. Some might seek out champion quests to recruit or slay champions. Some might go after only easy quests; i.e. kill rats. Others may seek to complete only magic item quests or Alliance Quests (i.e. rescue my son and my fraction will ally with yours).

If "some" of the AI fractions build archer focused armies I will be impressed, and if "Intelligent" AI sovereigns have the wisdom to cast wind shield spells to protect their units from archer attacks I will be more impressed.

Thanks for the informative update. Looking forward to distinct fractions with fraction specific looks (i.e wraiths have white hair and teeth with vampire like fangs), conversational tones (i.e. "Will you allly with us to" vs. "Let us crush the"), specific weapons (Trogs can wield heavy weapons), spells and quests. Also looking forward to lots of Spells that will be "interesting, important and exciting". In WOM I could easily reasearch all spells for the mag
