Oddly enough from a technology thread. I thought the idea merited mention as its own: To what degree should players need to domesticate animals? Obviously horses and griffons are in the mix, and I've heard mention of Bear Riders. This gets me thinking: why not halfling boar-riders? Battle Cattle? Chickens of Doom? Ravaging Rattlesnakes? In other words, to what extent are the animals just threats to be exterminated, and to what extent can the

Okay, quick word from the person who sees everything as interconnected: So basically, you're saying your LOYAL (morale) followers (governors and heroes) would work to return a weakened version of you to the world? I like this. Further, create a mini-game for the 'defeated' player to try to preserve his essence against wraiths and demons and such while hoping his minions were loyal and strong enough to bring him back. Honestly, though, your channeler shouldn't BE on

Was reading the thread for governors, and thought: Hey, why stop there? Why not have a court of NPCs who provide bonuses? As the NPC succeeds at tasks, they gain XP and gradually their bonuses increase. It would be great if we had options to promote them from governors (maybe with a regional level in between), but then I like complexity. Oh, and a system where instead of everyone reaches L2 at the same time, maybe a few 'sergeants' get promoted first, then mo

So I would spend essence to make an alchemist or artificer, and then they could train others? Or such specialists would have to train in order to tap my mana pool for their own uses? I'm not being deliberately desnse, but essence seems to be a VERY important concept. [pun alert] One could say that the difference between essence and mana is one of the essential concepts of the game.

You mean like portals that elementals/demons sometimes slip out of, destroying the nearest civilization they can find? Or deep caves, where orcs, goblins, boggarts and other unmentionables? Or once every X years, when the black moon rises for a month, and the unburied dead rise from the battlefields to slay the living? All of those are cool ideas.

Okay, for alternate planes: Fey Dreamworld: doesn't link 1:1 with real world. Allows for the planar navigator to enter Fey and make a shorter journey for their army. I'm thinking mists of Avalon, with the Brothers Grimm and other not-nice fairy tale inhabitants. Underwater/Underground: It sounds like these will need to be optional for some players, like a built-in mod. But I wholy support both of these. The hardest part (for me) is someone who HAT

Just a pesky interface question: How will user-supplied 'mod' content interface with MP mode? Are we looking at something like Battle for Wesnoth, where all players need to hunt down the most recent version of the mods being used to play the game? Or will there be some manner of automated mod gathering tool? But the main gist of this question is 'can we MP with mods'?

I have concerns about the economic system: 1) Will I be able to invest resources into gaining resources? For example, maybe in mining town M, I want to produce 'trained miners with metal picks' for the economy? 2) What about social organizations, such as guilds, to aid specific training? Can I pre-train the populace with 'unused' training potential? What about training statesmen, mages, workers, acrobats/entertainers, and researchers (or teachers, for that ma
