well, i guess it all comes down to balance. you can use your defence ships for offense or support, but that requires leaving the planet less defended. and when all your ships are basicly the same then they are much easier to counter for the AI, making your entire fleet countered as opposed to one part. but it also means easier production. sigh, so hard. mobile fleets do have starbases in their favor, the movement buffs and reduction to the enemy are much more useful to mobile fleets. hm
Hopeless Newb
True. Defence is mearly a delaying tactic, and that's what real defense is used for. To stop the enemy from winning (I.E. Killing you) So that you have time to build up a force and counterattack. Also, in an earlier argument, once the enemies upgrade their engines, your mobile fleets speed becomes much less effective, and if they customize their ships to give the transports more speed then the defence fleets are gonna be in trouble, and you with them. The starbase movement buffs, once
the problem with having 1 fleet to defend an entire sector instead of having a bunch spread out to defend planets individually is that: if the enemy attack at 2 points, then you might attack 1, but the enemy will likely get the other. or say they attack at 3, what do you do then? i prefer ships stationed at all planets and bases. they may cost a bit, but if you got your economy running well, u should be makin well into the thousands on large galaxies so that's not a problem
One those small 4-7 planets, they really aren't that good for productio i generally put a farm, 1 or 2 moral buildings, a stock market, and if there's any more room i do research buildings. that way, low maintanence costs, high moral and moneymaking or research. Money makes the galaxy go round.
you have the rolls reversed, you don't feed it, it feeds you , and scratches you behind the ears, or maybe it just kicks your butt and then eats you alive. Depends on your cologne.
i've had this happen to me before, but after a random event that lowered moral by 3%, it's just a glitch. i don't know how to fix it,but if you reload an autosave i doubt you will have it a second time, and it probably won't be that far back so that should fix it. why it happens, i have no idea.
What i like to do is, first charge out with colony ships, send them to as many planets and quarters as you can at first, and once you have 10-20 planets (obviously this is not for small galaxies) then you should have developed your capital enough to get constructors easily. while your charging, use your flagship to explore the space that's NOT around planets (your colony ships can do that) so that you find galactic resources, and grab any anomalies out there. then once your done colon
Here's an idea that would make a supernova realisticly possible, or as realistic as a game can be when it deals with aliens and hyperspace and all that Random event for a supernova that has a storyline along these lines: While excavating on (insert world name here) a survey team stumbled upon an unknown ancient device. After trying to interface with the computer, the machine activated and fired a beam into the heart of (insert systems stars name here) and caused a chain re
sorry to mistake above, i am my namesake
here's an idea, what if the planets actually orbited the stars? it's kinda wierd that planets just sit there, even if it's only a special thing for the human home world or something, but it would still be kinda cool. maybe planet's move every one or two weeks, depending on how close to the sun they are and they move in a circle around it. that would open up a series of possibilities for random events like an asteroid hitting a planet and sending it spinning outa the system or somethi
Well, here's my problem before installing Galciv2 i was able to come and go to this websight as i pleased, but after installation i am unable to go anywhere at all. i get to the first screen at www.galciv2.com and after that any link i click it says page cannot be displayed, and gives me that online message saying something like: websight may be having technical difficulties, or i may need to adjust my browser settings it's not the websight since i'm on it currently on it (
it really depends more on how big a bonus you get, and the situation your in. If you find a precursur mine you should probably build 1 or 2 less, and save the spaces for special projects like restarant of etunity or trade goods or something. unless your having a war with a neighbor, then you probably want to build the same number of factories so you can pump out ships.
