Sounds like he isn't used to a game with so much 'game' as opposed to fancy graphics and 'user-friendly' stuff.

The reviewer assumes the game's maths is wrong. It is simply adding bonuses cumulatively instead of from base value.

I think preloading for a prerelease is a bit rich TBH. Originally they were going to be releasing thursday with a preload, but they've decided to allow the preorders to get to play earlier instead. So think of the Monday release as a pre-load with the added benefit of being able to play [e digicons]:)[/e]

They really need to get rid of those concept screens. The turn-off one you mention is an early engine test I believe, and is literally years old (considerably pre-beta).

The AI will be good, Froggie is his own biggest troll when it comes to saying how good it is. As for waiting for patches, sure it will be a better game after a few patches (players of Gal Civ 2 will know what I mean - comparing v2.0 with ToA to v1.0 is just obscene) but it will still be a great game at release.

One worry is possibly that since AFAIK the spell victory requires control of all four shard types, this would be easy on a big map and really difficult on a small map. But if shards are rarer on big maps they have a different dynamic than on small maps.

I enjoyed EU Rome but there were just too many crashes, it got frustrating (admittedly I got it cheap to start with). They are very addictive to begin with but buggy buggy buggy

The devs have said that the gold version is so different from the last beta that there isn't much point in reporting bugs now.

They should put a note on the site saying beta access is closed, there's been a lot of threads like this and it would save everyone time. Oh and if you wanted to play the beta as a sort of demo, forget it. These are Stardock betas. They cause brain damage.

I'm going away for the weekend, I demand hope for lots of screenies and videos by then. The Empire tree is now really like the Sins one (which is good) and now looks actually useful (which is good). Looks miles better as expected, UI improvements also look good.

With the Sins expansion betas it was a full reinstall, I guess it will be the same here. I'm getting a box anyway as my connection is currently dire.

When G4 want to put it on - they want nice balanced shows so not everything is shown immediately after being recorded. Probably sometime this week.

I don't expect much before the gold date. Then a flood of pics and videos of the gold version.
