A little off topic, but I'm seeing all kinds of MOO 3 former forum members here.. Ron, Sorceress... Return to topic: I know there is a bug where ships won't automatically attack platforms..but they should automatically attack the other fleet.

I may have missed something or accidentally hit a wrong hotkey, but in prior versions, when done with an assault on the pirate home worlds, my fleet would automatically reform and sit at the edge of the grav well while the bombers would automatically begin targeting the ridiculous number of gauss cannons. After the patch, they no longer do so... the fleet still reforms and sits on the edge of the grav well, but in order to take out the gauss cannons, you have to

I generally pursue a conquer strategy (although I'll play nice and peaceful right up until you see my fleets and transports circling your homeworld) until mopping up becomes too tedious and then switch to a culture or tech victory. (this is on huge maps with 5-7 opponents, lots of minor races, and tech trading diabled-- i'll get my tech the old fashioned way, thank you.. invent it, steal it, or conquer it...). I mostly play neutral, but have been playing evil more often, as it doesn't

1) Pandora's Box -One of the medium level AI's core systems are surrounded by an impenetrable field For either a set number of turns or until a specific milestone (hyperwarp?). At which point the field goes away and the AI who has been enclosed emerges with top level weapons, engines, and production techs, and a substantial fleet. To add more of a challenge, the event to trigger the end of the containment could be when the non AI player brings its highest powered fleet in close proximity-s

Just want to say I love the game, have been palying a while, but took a break and am now back. The most annoying thing I find is that I'm not able to change production of a ship type on all planets currently producing that ship type at once. ex: 20 planets are currently producing the 'MegaFighter' design. I research and get a better engine and weapons system, and create a new 'SuperMegaFighter' design. I should be able to assign all planets making 'megafighter' to switch to

There are no extra- extras (usually referred to here as 'jewelry' to be researched. If you bought the collector's edition, it comes with several extra pieces, and more will come with the expansion pack. Research will give you more non-extra parts (weapons, engines, etc) but the extras you have are all that there are for now..(although people have done stunning things wtih them.. there is a thread here somewhere for showing off some of the best designs.) Also, research can unlock

Just a few basic ideas. yes, the tech tree can be overwhelming at first but a few things to keep in mind. You are generally only going to need to research 1 weapons field (at least for most of the game) So its a good idea to choose that to begin with. I generally go with missiles, but, its your choice. Another general rule i tend to follow is to research techs considering both research time involved and benefit. This is especially relevant at the start. I tend to go for the quic

I've used several systems for naming, usually depending on hull style. Also, I try to give a name conveying something about the intended role of the ship. Some defensive ships- Porcupine, Armadillo, Hedgehog, Shieldbearer, Chain Mail, Stegosaur Offensive ships-- Hammerhead, Razor, Minotaur, Shrike, Velociraptor Construction ships- Hammer, Toolkit, Monkey Wrench, Bulldozer... Also, I've tended to name ships indicating engine level.. so a warp 1 cons

While most of his post is so non-specific as to be meaningless, I can vouch for the inability to load saved games. That happened after several games in 1.11. I t seems to be fixed with 1.2 beta, but it may recur, as none of my emails or posts about it have been addressed, and I've seen several other posts as well. (and yes, my video drivers are up to date). In any case, I really don't understand what he thinks is 'buggy' about the production sliders..? They work as advertise

I've had relatively little problems with 1.11 until the past week. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, all save games cause the game to crash upon trying to load. Is anyone else having this issue? (I've chosen 'send error report' every time I get a crash.) However, it is impossible to play the game now unless I simply want to start over every time.

I answered Yes on the poll, however, after reading the thread I would include the reservation: Yes, if its hull classes for all races and say a minimum of 50 components. However, if it is not new hull classes for all races, but merely 2-3 new hull classes and only 20 or so more components, it would not be worth it. (unfortunately I'd probably still pay for it- can't resist new eye candy)
