So I changed the virtual memory setting in XP. This is new to me. I've never changed it from the default. The previous setting was min 2,048 and max 4,096. XP set the min/max levels. I changed the max to 8,192. Hope this prevents the out of memory error on save. Bad news is that the quick save game file must have been corrupted, as it is not showing up when I try to load the metaverse game. The really, really bad news is that I've been using quick save for the last several days, and had

Something new happened when quick saving. I received an out of memory message. There is no smart exception. Here is the debugg.err. Using Friday's beta release, I have noticed that the evil aligned weapons can be traded for, and show up strangely on the tech tree. I am playing as the Terrans with a neutral alignment.
Nvidia drivers, my experience. It seems that the nvidia uninstaller does not truly remove all references to the nvidia drivers and from the registry. I ended up purchasing driver cleaner ($10 US) to solve the issue. Just a word of caution, driver cleaner has specific usage instructions such as unplugging the computer from the internet and booting into safe mode before running the program. The driver cleaner program completely clear out all references to the nvidia drivers that I had bee
I'm having difficulties playing. Sent smart exceptions to you folks. No easy way for me to test / recreate.
The scenario is: I have a fleet stacked with a starbase. Question: Does an enemy fleet first attack the defending fleet or does it go straight for the starbase? Thanks
The difficulty level was set to obscene. I was using the beta update released on Friday. I noticed the behavior when reviewing the time line chart at the end of the game. The AI's manufacturing and research would peak, then plummet to zero every few turns throughout the game.
Was playing along when the crash occurred. Nothing seemed amiss. "Uh-oh" events such as negative research, population growth, or manufacturing.
Just a few things I noticed today. 1. It tends to bankrupt itself every several turns, and repeats this throughout the game. 2. It moves ships back and forth, like a yo-yo. Thanks
Using today's beta release: when I lose a planet, I am still seeing the space around the planet as if I were still in control.
Kryo, Thank you very much for all your assistance. I would like to inform you that today's beta update has fixed the problem with maximizing the screen. Keep up the great work Stardock! Thanks, -Patrick
I'd like to see this, too. Evils receive free upgrades, which is a nice benefit. Goods should receive 2x defensive bonuses to improve their survival rate. Not sure about neutrals... perhaps trade bonus modules?
Kryo, I downloaded the latest driver and its INI from laptopvideo2go. The performance increase is startling! The game looks 5x better! Thanks! The video crashing from taskbar still happens, but I'm really impressed with Peiter's driver improvements. I'm getting the following memory error (occasionally) before a game crash from maximizing. It reads: The instruction at "0x4fe7725b" referenced memory at "0x03329140". The memory could not be "written". Click OK to terminate the pro
Thanks Kryo. Will download the driver from laptopvideo2go and give it a go.
Updated the video driver at nvidia.com. The crashing as mentioned above continues. I'm not sure if it's my eyes or what, but I have a very difficult time finding the active ship. Could we please have an option to have the active ship blink? Thanks

Thanks Kryo. I updated my video driver through Windows update (shudder), and it installed a newer driver. For some strange reason, the newer driver has an older date associated with it...

What is the process to safely remove the Smart Exception program?
I have noticed that not researching planetary invasion tends to makes you less threatening. This is just an observation, as I do not have anything else to back it up.
