There's already too little impetus to train units, toughening up militia would just make it worse.

Awesome to see a new patch coming, and the changes look great. Could really use some attention to the snaking problem with being unable to build forest and river improvements once you reach the terrain: https://forums.elementalgame.com/430244
This has happened to me a few times since the area was opened.
Recruiting champions requires researched techs in the Magic tree. Building the henchmen unit requires you play the kingdom of Altair or a custom kingdom of the race of men.
I haven't been able to figure out what might be controlling this, I don't think it's something in the XML.
One of the problems the system has is that the numbers are low, whole numbers. In order to have each upgrade be minor, you go from pieces of armor having 1-3 defense to having 3-5 defense. Then that gain is multiplied by the total number of armor slots a trooper can wear armor on, and you end up with a total net gain that is greater than the damage rating of a standard hand axe and such, when you move from leather to chain armor. That one tech tree step almost totally inv
I have no problem, and can snake up to forests and rivers all I like. Meaby your getting too close to another city and hitting a "You cant build on this square" thing, because its way too close to another city. Sincerely ~ Kongdej
It's certainly not this. It was happening when I had only 1 city. I actually built up to a river and wrapped improvements around the end of the river and still can't build a doc
- Cruel: Can not recruit champions
This would be utterly crippling. I don't think you've really thought this through.
It appears now that if you start a modest distance from trees/rivers and place improvements until you reach them, you're not allowed to build logging camps or docks regardless? In my current game that seems to be the case, only a settlement created next to them is able to build the improvements. Unsure if this is an intentional change.
Can we please PLEASE PLEASE have the option to turn on the standard City HUD from the 3d overland view, but see it in the cloth map view? It displays some very handy info like which enchantments are on the city as well as what the city is building and how far along it is. I personally play the game very much in cloth map, partially for performance issues on my lousy laptop, and I miss having the City HUDs. Can we get some sort of option to be able to display them in cloth map m

One of the main things I'd like to see out of the magic system is more variety of ways to do damage as a low level caster outside of fire magic. Currently if you're not melee focused and not taking fire magic, your sovereign tends to seriously lack any bite in the early game. It would be fine to make some of these spells more situational, short range, prone to resists, or ineffective on certain types of monsters, but some basic damage spells are really lacking in the early gam
