No pleasing you people, eh?

I can't see your comic anymore.
When the Sovereign dies, there has to be a line of succession which ofcourse could results in a civil war. The cities become neutral and stop trading with each other until there is a new faction leader or now we have 2+ factions with independant city states. That's how you add content and story in one swoop.
The 15 mana cost is only a problem because of the tie in with Essence in v1.08. We're going to hold off on further balance to magic costs until v1.1 since it does make things seem ridiculously expensive.
So make it 10 for now and call it a day, but at 15 it's too expensive.
RH: good one, I like that. If you want the instant teleport, it becomes more expensive for large stacks!
Interesting.
Quoting Sethai, reply 38I think you can fix both by looking at stats. my POV was always that by imbuing you sacrifice personal power for greater strategic flexibility, like sauron and the rings. if you use INT to limit what spells a character can understand, and then WIS/ESS to determine the power of spells, then imbuing reduces the sovs spell power without risking negative generation. so more channelers = individually weaker. and th
To the OP: I am sorry, but Civ 4 does not have a better battle system. Not even close. Ground/Air/Sea is all the same. Exactly the same. It's different, and much better thought out, to a point. If you look, you'll see how it was changed for Civ 5. Civ 5 >>>>>> Civ 4 as far as battle systems go. I love the *potential* of the battle system in Elemental, but it needs a major rework (which is coming). I am more keen
BK: think Robert Jordan: WoT transportation modes. That is what I was alluding to. I really like how he handled it. Sorry I am not familiar with that book/game - But the whole concept of EPIC always turns around a long travel. The exact opposite of what Teleport brings. Go look at the Age Of Wonders Shadow Magic forum: they burned the house down in order for the developers to make teleport optional. Pages like
How to fix teleportation by MOIISKA and Robert Hentschke. https://forums.elementalgame.com/397194

Don't like it completely. Sovreign has magic, and his/her offspring. There should exist a few really old heros that have mafic too as teachers maybe. Other than that, I like it at the moment. I like the maintenance for magical creatures. What will be done about the global mafic spells for cities? will that have maintenance too? Does the shard provide +1 regen for magic ontop of the regular +1 that he/she alread

Guys/gals, if you are made at how things are playing out for now and disappointed in the release. Put the game down and play something else for a couple of weeks/months. Re-visit the game towards the end of the year and see what awaits. Meanwhile, stop posting here and just walk away. Everyone will benefit from this.
Agree. 15 mana for Multiplayer, 5 for single.
Hate it. Make it scale with the amount of people yo have in the party. 5 for the sovreign and add 1 mana per person (more effort) or +2 per for large summons/magical creatures. Raise the party teleport spell to a higher level. SO in late game after learning that spell, you can teleport a party of 12 for something like 10 mana vs. 16 or more.
Well, in the campaign there were lairs. SPiders had them. Darklings had them. Wargs/wolves too. They need to recreate that. The people of the wilds need ot have their own cities/encampements. Only creatues that should spawn out of thin blue air are the elementals and demonds.
Wow. No other company like this.
Global mana works well in Age of Wonders. To summarize how it works, you have a mana resource, which is aquired from various sources (in EWoM it would likely be shards amoungst other things). The upkeep for things like summons is subtracted from income. Finally, units that can cast spells can use a finite amount of mana per turn based on their ability to cast spells. This model fits well with the game's backstory. Channellers draw power
Quoting Mistwraithe, reply 3It worries me because it suggests that Stardock have no idea whatsoever how to balance things sensibly. Game balance is a difficult thing and there is a huge pile of game features that everyone is asking to have "balanced" immediately. Changing one thing has implications for others. You can't achieve balance in all aspects in a small handful of patches. We have to be patient.
Hear

Indeed, there have been dozens of well written, excellent posts (especially during the time of Frogboy's vacation shortly after release) that I honestly think haven't even been read. I think I can say this because Brad's recent posts give the impression that he hasn't been reading the forums. For example, a few weeks ago there was a post with dozens of replies on h
