Odd problem... I'm getting no sound at all! EDIT: I see I need to download the multimedia pack (sticky went up while I was writing this) Ignore this post.

All defenses work against all attack modes, to some degree... it's just that against the "wrong" attack modes, a defense only counts as its square root value. (rounded down, apparently) So, for example, 8 armor would count as 8 points of defense against mass drivers, and 2 points against beams or missiles. 30 shields would count as 30 points of defense against beams, but only 5 points against missiles or mass drivers. You get the idea. <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmi
I personally don't have a laptop, nor do I plan to get one in the near future. I have a desktop computer, which I keep upgraded as needed. (I'd say I'm a moderately hardcore gamer). I pretty much take for granted that my computer will be able to handle any non-FPS game easily. So GalCiv 2's laptop-friendliness doesn't matter to me personally.
This game... is brilliant. The love and care that went into it shines through these play examples. I hope you guys all get obscenely rich from sales and buy yachts and helicopters and things. You deserve it.
Just piling on here: I don't care about multiplayer in a TBS game, either. If, indeed, a choice had to be made between ANY of the single player features and multiplayer, then toss out multiplayer. Good call, Stardock. edit: preloading 63% complete. Hee-hee! *rubs hands gleefully*
