Personnally, I have never seen an artificial slave center. I would have to guess to say that it comes from being totally evil. It should tell you in the description whether it is for one planet or all. The way it usually works is a precise statement that says for "the planet that has this built on it". Whereas, if for all planets you will read something more general like "this will increase your manufacturing bonuses". So if the description doesnt say

You can play with core units, its just that you have to unlock them within your tech tree. Instead of doing that, You can use the customize ship option and create a ship that will counter the offenses and defenses exactly. I know you want to play with just the core ships, but in my opinion, I think its worth the time and effort to learn the ship building specs. The mechanics are not hard at all and you can do much better in the game because of it.</fon
I DONT regret buying the game, However I will say that my game crashes nearly every time I play it. Hopefully, with time, they will get all the kinks worked out. Untill then, Well quite simply, I play anyway and just deal with the crashes though I have lowered the number of turns I take before the game auto-saves
I usually have a starbase of each kind near each of my clusters of planets. I then follow my trade routes with overlapping economy tiles. I also use influence bases to maintain or increase my ring of influence. The benefits that I get from these starbases is better than no benefit at all. If I make say an additional 25credits from my economy bases and I am better able to defend and attack within my military bases, Then I see this as a worthwhile endeavor. Besides, Constructors dont cost you mai
Personally, I rarely if ever use farms. Yes, I know that more people equals more revenue. However, there is also a large increase in unhappiness when the population gets larger. I have better use of my tiles than to put multiple population happiness achievments down. On capital planets that I capture/have I receive 10billion peeps. On non-capital, I get 5billion. If I need money I simply raise taxes up to but not over 69%. This usually suffices. If ho
I like starbases. I do think that they should have an attack radius of like 1. That way if a enemy ship comes too close the starbase can attack. This then would add a strategy to the game when placing starbases. And I agree with the premise that starbases increase your races influence on a given area. A well placed base could help greatly against a planet invasion fleet. As for the bonuses that the base gives you, well for me, the bonuses are great, BUT they are really not realistic IMO. I am n
Glad to see all you aussie boys and girls gonna join the fun Heads up and cheers!
anyone ?
The title says it all, I was wondering if there was something I need to do to unlock the awards at the bottom of my post. It seems they are not showing up right now. Thanks
I felt compelled for some reason to express my appreciation of this game. It has been a LONG time since a game has enthralled me the way GalCiv2 does. It is hard to pin point exactly what part of the game stands out the best. I think if I were to be asked to pick just one reason why I like the game more than anything else, Well I think I would have to say the LONG list of choices that I am offered to choose from. I love the idea of being able to create a race from scratch. I get to pick their po
I posted this on the bug forum also, but I have never gotten a response there from Stardock on previous post, so I am posting here too. Has anyone else noticed that diplomacy is reversed from what it's suppose to be since this last patch? I have a base factor of plus 80% diplomacy. I am rated by most races incredible for diplomatic relations. When I attempt to trade/bartor for skills/abilities, those that I rate incredible with offer me the ugliest deal. (not just one race... all races) The

LOL>.. thanks everyone.. So basically become a whore and go mass murder entire races? hehe (sounds like fun)
Thanks Bonscott for answering, Again great info MinionJoe, I've never concentrated on one tech tree. Basically I am afraid that if I put all of my eggs into one basket, everyone will come out with defenses against me and then I'm screwed. How do you make that work?
Thanks Martimus, I usually specialize Mars and most other 4-5 tile planets. But I usually maintain an even planet when it comes to planets that have 8 or more tiles. You consider this wrong then? What type of specialized planet do you start with first? ... Ohh also, if you play like a medium map and you start with a full compliment of races, there are usually only two maybe three planets per race. How do you specialize planets when you just dont have enough?
I never really understood the economy percentages. So you are saying MeridianMale that I can increase my spending to 100% until I go into deficit and then back it back down? How many turns are you able to play before you run into deficit spending? Thanks btw
Thanks Apoc527, I too have experienced the Strong Military versus no war mongering trading. Although I have also found out that if you are the strongest by a very large degree, races that have NOT been to war with you ever, will be inclined to give you about anything you want. It seems if you have had a bit of a conflict with a race they hold it against you for awhile. I had not considered that they may start with many of those techs... lucky slime balls! lol THanks for your contribution!
Great advice bonscott! At first I would set up Mars evenly.. Manufacturing, Technology, and financial... one each, but then I started to do it your way also. I usually do research since it seems to be the biggest factor in the game. Faster you research the faster and farther ahead you get from the other races. I also trade with the others but I just dont understand why they are able to get so many skills reasearched so fast. Perplexing!
Think of it this way, 10 billion people frolicking around with each other has gotta spawn 200 million babies a week lol. You gotta take into consideration that this is way into the future. Technology has had to evolve, allowing us to create baby machines ( IE... women genectially evolved to give birth to many children at once) That combined with pratical use of age acceleration would suggest that children would become adults much faster therefore procreating much faster. Now if you happen to hav
I've not graduated to normal skill level yet so the game is sorta easy.. but I'm still learning. My problem is this. Early into the game, one of the races usually wants to trade with me. At this point I only have maybe three or four abilities researched. But here is the zinger. Almost without fail the other race has huge amounts of researched abilities compared to me. I usually start with universal translater then diplomatic research and then trade. ( this gets the money flowing early ) Then I s
This has happened to me several times. I will invade a planet and the animated sequence screen appears. The land on the planet is all white. Like snow white, no features whatsoever. Just as the battle begins, I crash to desktop and I need to hard shut down to get out of the game. Not sure why it happens but I guess its important to note that it doesnt happen all the time. I would say 1 out of every 6 planet envasions crashes the game. lol, its sorta hard to conquer the galaxy when the game is wo

Thanks everyone, I will check my structure list right away
Hello everyone, Just got my collectors edition box from stardock! I opened it and found my CE serial number. I went to the site that sheet of paper suggested for me to go and I downloaded all of the content there. No where was I asked for a serial number. This is why I am doubting whether I have the new content or not. Since I dont know what these new items look like, there is no way for me to know for sure. If anyone can help me I sure would appreciate it. Ohh BTW, I did go to stardock central
from my experience, you use trade goods the same way you would use techs to will and deal. I have noticed that trade goods are wanted much more. Example... I had a whole list of techs I had up to trade... it seemed like a hard deal to swallow. I used one of my trade goods and one other tech and they went for it. HOWEvER... You can only trade each trade good to one civ one time. IE... you can trade to every civ diplomatic translators once. From then on when dealing with that civ you wont see that
