When I lived in Florida my neighbor came over one day and said there was a snake in her driveway and she couldn't get into her car. I grabbed my shovel and headed over. I was thinking a garden snake I could relocate. But no, not so easy. It was a rattle snake. Now I have to be honest. I didn't know it was a rattle snake because I didn't really look that close at it. But I knew it wasn't a garden snake so decided to kill it. So I took my

If the proselytizing is causing a negative reaction to the teachings, why continue? i.e., if running and screaming towards people on the cliff is causing jumpers, shouldn't you change tactics? Don't. Yes. I am not saying its rational, I am just offering a diff perspective.

This is a little off topic....but my husband's family is from southern Mississippi and big hunters. We took our first son down one year and they had a deer hanging upside down draining its blood in a pan. My son asked about it and we told him they kill them and then eat their meat. That was the end of it until one day he got really mad at me (he was about 3) and said, "I gonna kill you and eat your meat!" <img src="http://i

Here is a different perspective a friend and I talked about once. Imagine you saw a woman standing on the edge of a cliff. She is carrying each of her children in her arms but it is foggy up there and she can't always see where she is going. You see her move straight for the edge. What would you do? Would you call out? Would you run up to her and physically grab her and say, "hey, you're in danger!"..What would you do? If

Do you remember when PETA staked out NYC and was throwing red paint all over women who wore furs on 5th Ave and in the fashion district? What COWARDS! Why didn't they hunt down a local biker gang and throw red paint on them for wearing leather???

When you finish your bath, the water's still hot (or at least warm). So when you drain it away while it's warmer than the air around it, you are draining away a potential heat source. If you leave it in the bathtub to cool, it will provide extra heat to your home via convection. Oh I see. I guess it we

Every time I hear Cyndi Laupper's "All Through the Night" I am whisked back to the skating rink my best friends and I often frequented. I see the lights dimmed and the colored balls spinning, reflecting off the golden wood floor... and I can almost smell the popcorn from the snack bar. And a little part of me remembers what it felt like to wonder if I was going to be asked to skate with a boy or if my girl friends and I would rebelliously all skate t

LoL @ the bumper sticker thing. I see them all the time, huge, gas guzzling behemoths, sporting stickers in support of various liberal causes, and when I look inside as I pass them (or vice versa) there's usually only one person in the vehicle. LW-- That is SO funny. I love my SUV and make no

Sorry came to this late but wanted to add my two cents. I think even the most debased person (still capable of love) would die for the ones they love. I think it's a common thread that makes us human. How much more uncommon that a man/woman would die for the sake of a stranger?

This road dead ends at the country club. I think the double "s" curve pisses them off because they have to actually slow down, and they figure since its a "country" road then they should be able to go all out.....and boy they get really nasty when the cows get out...and they do once in awhile because trees fall on the fence or whatever it is cows do to get fences down. But they never come into our yard, they just hang out on the road. So

Ya did good not causing a scene in front of your child. Yeah I guess. Obviously that guy thinks "IT TAKES A VILLAGE" to raise a child.....but we do just fine on our own...hehe. He spoke girly so I probably coulda taken him! hehe

That machine has more than enough horsepower to handle even the most complex programming task he'll be able to throw at it for quite a while. Maybe more RAM would help, but it's not necessary right now. Ok great! I bought that computer at the bidding of the salesman when my son told him he wanted a com

Thank you so much!! I will go to the site and take all your advice....he will be so excited when I tell him. He already has a computer in his room with highspeed hookup. But he is only allowed on two sites.... Do you think an emachines with 340 processor, 100 gb and 512 ram is good enough or do we need to upgrade? I am computer retarded so layman's terms please! haha

Ever since my 9 year old son bought Halo for his computer he won't stop nagging me about how to write computer games. (Like I know, I'm lucky to get on the net using windows!) So since he won't shut up about it I was wondering if someone could tell me what "language" (I don't even know if that is the correct term) games are written in.......is there somethin

I am fairly new to JU so am not aware of any "history" you have here...... Are you the teacher so scathingly referred to in many posts? It seems (as someone just coming to the table) that there are a few unpopular posters here who happen to teach. I don't always have time to read all the posts or even reply to my own, so excuse my ignorance. I did read a post that said approximately 8 new people join JU a day. So it seems you get 8

Wow that is quite a summary. I am fairly new to JU so I am reading some of these posts with a "huh?" look on my face. But it's not taken me too long to see which way the wind is blowing. I missed a lot of the fighting in the last few days because I don't always read the politcal threads. I am sure it will clear up or clear out as time passes.. Welcome back anyway......
