i think i would love that book two. do you know how many times going to midnight mass i have thought of that very thing? i think that is exactly what led me to this passage in the book.

I think that for forty years Joel has believed that if he lived his life inside of a story (Amahl or the Bible even) then he would be protected from life, that the tale would protect him from instead of informing him about the nature of things. I think real stories are gateways into truth.

isn't that funny? because the whole thing about Sidney is he is determined that Mason not see too much. This part of his life and several parts of the story are hidden from several different characters. It's like no one gets to see the whole picture because in some ways it is too much. WILD LIFE.

the joy i have is in that he was never intended to be a main character, and he just sort of came in and has taken a life of his own. i love it when that happens. all i can say is that Matt, being a good person, will in the end come out all right.

well, all of Matt's issues are pretty much one issue. Matt's sort of been on the backburner throughout this story. Now his relationships and especially his changing relationship with Bailey are going to be of central importance. Matt is really one of my favorite characters because he just sprung up by surprise.
